Conflict heightens the risk of human trafficking and uses violence against women as a weapon of war.
In 2023, more than 3,600 cases of sexual violence were committed in conflict settings globally.
95% of the cases involved women and girls.

Besides fueling conflict, sexual violence also severely impacts the prospects for lasting peace.
Women and girls must be protected.
Abuse must be investigated.
And gender equality must be central to all efforts to protect & assist people affected by conflict.
