What’s not to trust? A hidden door to the underworld? A tour guide named Grumbones? All to see her late grandmother once again- what an adventure! I couldn’t wait to find out the end 🫣 #BookAllies @Jenn_Benn already out!!!

Last week a patron came into the library and checked out an air fryer. She asked if we had somewhere to use it and we said no. So she took it into the bathroom and COOKED A SALMON in it

Don’t know how many of you will see this, but I urge you to find another SM home. I get that folks need to check for breaking news, weather. I haven’t closed my account. But realize: you aren’t immune to propaganda on here. Yes, you. And me! Time spent here= radicalization

Being a writer is rather like being a medieval merchant. You dispatch your manuscript, and it will be a year and more before you know the outcome. Will your argosy bring home riches? Disappear without trace? Return, but in disarray? One thing is certain, pirates will attack …

If Oscar Wilde was around these days he wouldn’t be exhausted from a day of putting in/taking out commas (or the other way around), he would be shattered from trying to keep up posting on eleventy billion different social media platforms.

This happened to a friend of mine called Fergus, whose flatmate spent months secretly photographing himself dressed up in Ferg’s clothes, sitting in his favoured positions, reading his favourite books etc. for a massive collage project called "Being Fergus"
I’m glad I didn’t go to art school… I would hate to find out at the end of the year that someone’s thesis project was me

When I was in college, I started collecting Anchor and Doubleday paperbacks that Edward Gorey designed. It was an incredibly cheap little used bookstore treasure hunt to always be on. I'm going to thread a few of my favorites in honor of Anchor.
Vintage/Anchor publisher Suzanne Herz will leave Penguin Random House in December. Anchor Books will gradually be phased out, starting with its hardcover program next January, with its 16,000-strong paperback backlist slated to move over to Vintage. pwne.ws/4645OxJ

For @esquire, I spent the summer speaking to dozens of authors and publishing insiders about the broken world of book blurbs. It's my longest published feature to date and I hope you will read it. esquire.com/entertainment/bo…

My teen years were spent in a small, wretched town in South Alabama, so some of my reading material came from stumbling upon it in public library (we went every week, thank you, Mom!) and some things (SANDMAN) I sought out on my own with allowance money and trips to city
