Hi all, Due staff absence, we have decided to merge tutor groups from Monday. You will now have between 60 and 70 children in your class. Make sure you complete the relevant uniform and equipment checks, take the register and read the announcements in those 10 minutes. Thanks x

you only have to go into some schools to realise why attendance is low. I suggest visits to ‘real life’ schools/shadow teachers for a term so you get a REAL idea of the issues. @educationgovuk - funding, staffing & resources are diabolical, students neglected because of this 😡

Parents whose children are taking unauthorised absences could be required to participate in attendance awareness training, similar to courses given to speeding motorists, according to a @csjthinktank report tes.com/magazine/news/genera…

Some kids don’t skip school because of their parents. They hate it because it’s restrictive, joyless and kills their vibe. Attendance training won’t fix that. If adults hated their workplace, they’d leave. Yet we expect kids to stay and suffer.

📉 Schools should take 'proactive' action to help cut the number of children missing education and locate those at most risk, the government has said buff.ly/0JS1HcW

A reminder that teachers in the state sector teach *everyone*, from the best to the worst. And we cannot expect them to manage students as chaotic as this with kind words and de-escalation alone. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgq…

I would say generally I have a good track record with behaviour, in a very challenging setting. All of these ring true. Some people have also added “saying no” and I agree; kids in my class get used to “no” very quickly. Many never hear it at home, and they need to hear it.

Someone please explain. Care home costs are eye watering. Care home staff are very low paid. Where is all the money going?

Worked out that my “PPA” allowed for 10 minutes to plan each lesson&mark books for all my classes this week. Where does 10%PPA time come from because it’s not enough. @NEUnion @educationgovuk @timeshighered @FFTEduDatalab #teacher #teaching #schools #teacher #review #education 🤔

I love being a teacher but giving English teachers 10 days (while teaching all day and on top of other responsibilities) to mark 56 literature essays all between 2-3 sides of A4 each is actually irresponsible.

All inspection reform is turd in glitter stuff. Fundamentally it’s just not possible for strangers to reliably evaluate a school in a couple of days. Any notion of grading accuracy is a delusion. Why are we wedded to the charade? Schools should be known and supported over time.
Super, in-depth analysis from @lydiachSW on Ofsted reforms in today’s edition: big concern over grade reliability, new toolkits, workload implications and the speed of changes The schools sector has been heavily critical of report card plans - but, parents do seem to like them
