‘At first, I took you for a charming jewel thief.’ From one of the great storytellers of our time, Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger is an exquisite entertainment in which nothing is quite as it seems. Announcing the new novel from Kazuo Ishiguro, coming 9 March 2027.

Kazuo Ishiguro has a new novel coming out in March --- Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger. Is this a late-career pivot to cosy crime?!

.@isberryauthor is the latest guest on Licence to Spill, and she does not hold back — the real-life Mossad plot she had to cut from her upcoming book Swallowtail because it was too far-fetched (even though it actually happened), why she does not write present-day espionage, and she reveals which three guests she would invite to her spy fiction dinner party and much more. Read it today. Link in the 1st reply. @AtriaMysteryBus

Amazing: KPMG wrote a report describing the successful use of AI by businesses. But the case studies turned out to be AI hallucinations. giftarticle.ft.com/giftartic…

This is great stuff - I wonder what happened to that Greene/Fleming chat? Also extraordinary that they have spoiled the ending for OHMSS in this piece!

Good to see the Pope throwing shade at Cristiano Ronaldo.
The World Cup begins tomorrow, and many will watch the matches. Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life. #ApostolicJourney

Tolkien can be, to modern readers, and among many other things, a first step down a road that leads to a vast landscape of stunning (and largely forgotten) literature, from BEOWULF to GAWAIN (and other Arthuriana) to the EDDA. Even on to the adventure tales of Buchan and Haggard, without whom my beloved Indy wouldn't exist. Once you set foot on that path of reading, who knows where you'll be swept off to?
The irony of Tolkien's harshest critics is they are among those most attached to literary criticism, highbrow lit, etc. If such pursuits have a future in a world of dying humanities, it will be secured in large part by Tolkien's own popularity.

From LIFE, 30 April 1965. Quite a lot in here - all Len Deighton fans will recognise one part, I reckon.
