Subjects I’m angry about include: BC’s failed COVID response, mistreatment of educators, the housing affordability crisis, and the fact that pizza has calories.

I’m on Spoutible & Mastodon - same username. Thinking Elon’s latest “pay for basic security features” bullshit will probably be what gets me to leave Twitter for good.

Annnnnd now my sweet baby is sick. I feel like I failed her. Fuck this dystopian nightmare we’re living in. And a big F U to everyone who thinks brunch/travel/other dumb consumerist shit is more important than our health.

Anybody know what tests one would ask a doctor for post-covid to check for complications? I know a d-dimer would be good but otherwise I’m unsure what to ask for. Preparing for when my husband is on the mend.

My husband just tested positive for c*vid for the first time. I’m absolutely losing my mind with worry, and anger, and all the things. Hoping against hope we were quick enough to stop it with him and spare my daughter & mom, but I’m not optimistic. Words of comfort/advice welcome

Any #PlusLife users able to help interpret results via the Virussucks app? I had a result that was negative on the device but 1 of the channels besides the control had a burst of exponential growth then levelled off. I’m worried about a weak/early positive. Any help appreciated!

To protect your family and help reduce your risk of getting or spreading respiratory viruses like the #flu, #RSV or #Covid19 this fall season, use personal protective measures like wearing a mask, improving indoor ventilation and cleaning hands regularly. ow.ly/y4XW50PG5sU

Yearly reminder that the USA publicly mourns the approx 2000 people lost on 9/11 while simultaneously ignoring the millions lost to Covid (& continuing to be complicit in more deaths). Guess it’s only important to remember folks when you can use their loss to justify war.

Leader of “Take Back Alberta” with absolutely no delusions of grandeur having a perfectly normal day. (Also we never had lockdowns, we had a series of inconveniences that were implemented to mitigate the effects of a global disaster, not saying just saying) #abpoli #cdnpoli

We masked in oncology for decades … until now. Because we’ve gone backwards in infection control. Imagine being able to do all of the things we can do to treat cancer and piss it away like this.

People who resist public health measures during a deadly pandemic are not heroes. Goons who threaten healthcare workers and people who wear masks are not freedom fighters. The terrorists who occupied Ottawa in Feb. 2022 & threatened to overthrow the gov't were not patriots.

They are training you. They are training you to not give AF about others. They are training you to “other” an incredibly nebulous and ever-expanding group of people called “the vulnerable” & crafting their communication so that you believe that you will never be in THAT group.

December 20th, 2018: The worst Wind Storm to ever impact SW BC. White Rock Pier was destroyed, and 750,000 customers lost Power. Worst Storm in BC Hydro history. June 25-30, 2021: The infamous PNW Heat Dome where Lytton, BC shattered Canada's alltime hottest temperature for 3 days in a row before burning to the ground the next day. It caused the deadliest Natural Disaster in Canada history. November 13-15, 2021: After 2 months of well above average Rainfall, Mother Nature slammed a Category 4/5 Atmospheric River right into us. Heavy Mountain Snows the week before then went on to devastate SW BC. Every single major Highway out of Vancouver was destroyed. This went on to become the most expensive Natural Disaster in Canadian History. April 1st to ongoing: 2023 Forest Fire Season in BC. As of August 21st we are already at 1.29x past what was previously the worst Forest Fire Season we had ever seen in BC History. After insurance claims, and total cost are finalized. This will also become one of the most expensive Natural Disasters in Canadian History. The fact people will argue that Climate Change doesn't exist, when BC feels like the Planet's Guinea Pig for it, is really unsettling... #bcstorm

Carbon pricing is *supposed* to make things more expensive. We’re *supposed* to be making the connection between our conspicuous consumption and climate change. We’re *supposed* to feel a little pain. Sorry adulting is so hard.

One of the worst lies we’ve ever bought into as a society is that our *personal* choices don’t impact others. They absolutely do.

Conservativism has become nothing but an extremely dangerous and expensive philosophy. If your political ideology demands you ignore or deny reality, it's a cult. Also, if you don't want to be part of the solution, you are the problem. 2/2

You will still have to work when the fires burn near you. Your rent will still be due if the virus maims your brain.

We’re so unbelievably fucked. People are seriously claiming that these fires are a “scam” and that climate change is a hoax, even as they witness its effects with their own eyes. We are not going to be able to save ourselves. Our species is too stupid to survive.
