Today was my last day as Head of Social Research for Agri-Food Chain at Defra for 1 year as I am now on maternity leave. I will likely be less active on twitter during this time, and will instead be trying to keep a baby alive! I know amazing work will continue in my absence.

Great advice here. As a gov researcher, I LOVE receiving policy briefs to get headline info on a research project. Briefs are direct, concise & easy to share. Often they're a much better form of comms than receiving lengthy & theoretical journal articles
Policy briefs are a useful tool for communicating research to policy professionals. They should be treated as part of a wider, and ongoing, conversation rather than as an end in themselves but they're a useful card in your hand.
