Modern fighting game cycle seems to start with chaotic offense so everyone can ‘play’ the game and get hooked.
Rushdown is one of many styles people enjoy but for me, it’s only exciting when there’s risks involved as it should be. Flashy consecutive reads to get in knowing you can get clipped at any time.
For example: Kim is THE offensive char in SF6 but Juri, Ken, DJ, etc can do what she does with one DR frames then get the party started, but better.
Makes rushdown style feel homogenized across the board and that’s not a good direction if you’re designing unique chars.
I’m hearing some players are saying similar things about the heat system in T8.
Would love to see other styles flourish in future seasons.
