🚩 BREAKING: The MOU is out; the U.S. just claimed “victory” in Iran. Let’s run the actual scorecard (🧵) “It’s an atrocity in service of failure.”
🚨🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸 BREAKING | If this is confirmed, we can say that the US has lost the war with Iran. The Iranian news agency Mehr, citing the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has published all 14 clauses of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the US: 1. Permanent and immediate cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon. 2. The US commitment to non-interference in Iran's internal affairs and respect for the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 3. Complete lifting of the naval blockade within 30 days. 4. The US commitment to withdraw its forces from around Iran. 5. Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days under Iranian arrangements. 6. Suspension of sanctions on the sale of oil, petrochemical products, and derivatives, and full access of Iran to its financial resources. 7. The necessity for the US and its allies to present reconstruction plans for Iran amounting to at least 300 billion dollars. 8. 60 days of negotiations to reach a final agreement based on nuclear issues and the complete lifting of primary, secondary, US sanctions, and UN Security Council and IAEA Board of Governors resolutions. 9. Reiteration of Iran's commitment under the NPT treaty not to produce nuclear weapons. 10. During the negotiation period, the US has committed not to add forces in the region and not to impose new sanctions. 11. Release of 24 billion dollars of Iran's blocked funds during the 60-day final negotiation period. Half of this amount must be made available to Iran before the start of negotiations. 12. Formation of a supervisory mechanism to implement the agreement. 13. The final agreement will be approved by a UN Security Council resolution. 14. Final negotiations will not begin before the release of half of Iran's blocked funds, suspension of Iran's oil sanctions, and lifting of the naval blockade, and the final agreement will only cover the fate of enriched materials and enrichment, lifting of sanctions, and Iran's economic reconstruction plan. Discussions about Iran's missile program and support for resistance groups are definitively removed from the agenda. As a reminder, the official signing of the memorandum is scheduled for June 19 in Geneva. See the latest updates with us: @visionergeo

‼️ WTF? WHY? ‼️ The U.S. needs these sensors to accurately track locations of Russian SSBNs… Removing the Irminger array in particular — when Russian SSBN activity in the North Atlantic is at post-Cold War highs— is sabotage of national security. This is getting ZERO coverage.
Trump is sending ships in June to remove over 900 deep-sea instruments from the Atlantic and Pacific, dismantling a $368 million monitoring network built over a decade that was meant to last 25 years. It will be dismantled in just 15 months.

Leadership whipped against Ukraine. @RepDonBacon forced a discharge petition anyway—some things don’t wait for permission Ukraine fights for sovereignty, democracy, and the line that separates the free from the conquered Some still know what’s at stake Thank you, Congressman.
We can’t be neutral when it comes to Russia and Ukraine. This is an evil vs good war, and we should stand with the democracy, the victim of an invasion and not the invader. People say they’re pro-Ukraine, but actions speak louder than words.

39 times and counting. Meanwhile, Trump’s war has cost American drivers $48B in excess gas costs … and pushed annual inflation to 4.2%, swallowing average wage growth — 3.4% and falling — whole … at count #39 … and counting

HEY @FBIDirectorKash @FBI: In case you can’t figure it out… —> This is an anti-ICE, anti-fascist post. Want to come interrogate me about it? Not too inept to find my address, are you? When I go out, I’ll leave a note in my apartment where you can find me… #AnitiICE #ANTIFA

Orders homeowner to stop recording—refuses to even tell him which comments. Agent wearing unique World Cup uniform to indicate he is currently assigned to work with ICE on immigration issues. We believe that one of the strongest responses Europe can give to Russia’s attacks and constant acts of aggression is to accelerate our accession process, to accelerate the opening of clusters. It often feels as if we always have to fight harder than others to move forward on our path to the EU. Ukraine has earned the right to move faster. And that is exactly the political decision Europe needs today. We are ready for the opening of all the clusters. We have done our work. Everyone in Europe knows this. So let us move forward with opening the clusters without delay – the remaining five clusters following today's opening of the first one. From an intervention at the EU Intergovernmental Conference. Working families are getting squeezed from every direction. Gas prices are up, groceries cost more, health care premiums have skyrocketed, and rent is out of reach. Instead of fixing any of that, the President hosted a UFC fight on the White House lawn. His priorities are clear — and helping working families isn’t one of them.

Trump is distraction — from Epstein, rampant corruption, destruction of democratic institutions, surrender to Putin at every turn, and now a massive defeat in Iran that leaves the regime intact and America weaker. The scale of the collapse is the story… open.substack.com/pub/jrkine…

Trump again claims victory in Iran. He’s claimed victory before, but now he has a so-called “agreement” with Iran. It looks like a terrible failure. Let me break it all down for you. 👇 robertreich.substack.com/p/t…

It takes a special kind of strategic incompetence to achieve total military dominance and still pathetically lose a war, yet that is exactly what Donald Trump did in Iran. The US and Israel ruled the skies, hitting almost every target with virtually zero resistance and few aircraft losses. Even so, the entire operation failed because Trump is a loudmouth fraud who was never actually ready to commit. Before the war started, I wrote that Iran's best move would be to just to try to somehow survive the first wave, and call Trump's bluff, and that is exactly what they did. They realized early on that Trump's tough-guy routine was entirely hollow. Airstrikes alone rarely force an aggressive regime to collapse. Trump ignored every historian and military advisor, charging ahead with Israel without a clear objective. This was not a typical asymmetric victory like Ukraine's resistance against Russia, where the smaller nation wins by inflicting severe costs on the occupier. Iran's military performance was miserable. Their air defenses were a joke, and their retaliatory strikes achieved almost nothing. They won the war of wits because survival was existential for them, while for Trump, it was a political stunt. They correctly gambled that the US had no stomach for a prolonged ground invasion. They just had to absorb the hits and choke off global oil supplies in the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides held back some of their biggest moves, since Washington kept ground troops out of the fight and Tehran chose not to make the Houthis completely seal off Bab el Mandeb. I have absolutely zero sympathy for the horrific Iranian regime. Trump deeply betrayed the people of Iran by waiting until their domestic uprisings were brutally crushed before launching his badly prepared operation. He talked big and made sweeping demands, yet everyone knew he lacked the resolve to follow through. The upcoming peace deal will inevitably be far worse than the JCPOA he originally tore down. This war exposed the hard limits of Trump's posturing. When an adversary stood their ground and called his bluff, the entire might of the US armed forces could not cover up his cowardice and stupidity

🚨Trump — who spent years calling Obama’s Iran deal “the worst ever” — has reportedly agreed to a framework that makes the that deal (JCPOA) look like a masterful negotiation. Per Reuters, the draft MOU would have the U.S. unfreeze $25 billion in Iranian assets, including direct cash transfers — nearly 15x the $1.7B released under Obama. Washington would also waive oil sanctions, lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports, and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran, in return, agrees not to pursue nuclear weapons and to pause uranium enrichment — with final nuclear talks to follow within 60 days. Just 16 days before this deal was announced, Trump gave a prime-time address accusing Obama of flying pallets of “green, green cash” to Tehran, saying the $1.7 billion payment had only made the Iranians laugh. Last week he called Obama’s deal “stupid, claiming he “thought he could bribe them.” Now Trump has reportedly agreed to a framework that makes the JCPOA look like a tough negotiation. That’s the exact same structural framework as the JCPOA — just with exponentially more money and zero congressional authorization. The man who ripped up Obama’s deal, called it the worst in history, and accused Democrats of funding terrorism just handed Iran a check that makes Obama look like a tough negotiator. Obama gave them $1.7B and got called a terrorist sympathizer while they emphasized that his middle name is “Hussein.” Trump gives them $25B and MAGA cheers on his “4-D chess.” You can’t make this up.

It’s a problem when data centers are being built without any input from the people that live nearby. I’m working to make sure communities and data center companies are both involved in the decision making process, and that residents aren’t footing the bill for big companies.
