Happy #nursesday#internationalnursesday
I am proud to be a nurse.
It's been a busy safeguarding and GSF kinda day in my GP role. Back to hospital care tomorrow and then motocross at the weekend.
Nursing is so varied and I love the challenges of being the best I can be
I can't wait to celebrate at the end of June either.
'National Children’s Nurses’ Day on 30th June provides a platform to celebrate the dedication, knowledge, skill and compassion of children’s nurses’
First and foremost (for 29 yrs) I have been a children's nurse
And secondly (for 20 yrs) I have been an advanced nurse.
People more recently have said "would you recommend nursing or try and put people off studying it?"
I would wholeheartedly recommend it! #nurse#advancedpractitioners#advancednurse#apnp#childrensnurse
Am so annoyed with the car parking system at the place I work at.
Hopefully my fine will be overturned at the appeal process for parking on a site I used to park on that was removed from my permit.
Last time I offer to be nice and deliver Easter eggs to sick children.... Meh.
I though that emailing security with my Reg number beforehand would have been enough!
Silly to think that.
I just begrudge a £45 fine for a 2 hour clinic I was doing (as well as the Easter egg delivery).
I just completed the NTACC Nurse Trauma and Critical Care course with @ATACCGroup, and it was great to have had the opportunity to do this course for my practice across emergency care. A huge thank you to the @NTACCFaculty for a great course.
These past couple of days have been eye-opening & I have so much to take back to work.
If you work in emergency care & want to push your trauma practice further, I can’t recommend this course enough!
A great group of people & useful course. Thankyou guys (especially Ted)!
Please can you ask those lazy people to be accountable if a pupil is killed or injured trying to get across the crossings!

To those who have messaged to tell me that the pay we have been offered is fair, come & have a look at the role #advancedpractitioners#apnp#acp do!
We arent trying to be doctors d dont profess to be but the level of practice we work at is a senior level & demands recognition!
More #residentdoctors strikes planned for later in the month.
Another opportunity for me to question why #advancedpractitioners#apnp#acp are offered pay to cover the strikes that doesn't demonstrate the role we do.
More reason for the @nmcnews to look at our role recognition

I am offered £50ph in hours and £55ph out of hours but doctors who are discussing patients with me as a senior decision maker are being offered nearly double that.
I will help to support the rota but will question, again, why the remuneration is not equitable to the role we do!
Look forward to hearing the ideas discussed at this essential meeting!
Finding ways to support all grades of stafft to ensure patient safety & reduce the risk of staff burnout!
This winter is hitting hard already! And this is my 28th year in A&E as a #nurse#apnp#emergencynurse
Teamwork & support for each other are ESSENTIAL.
I don't want to hear arguments and bickering & experienced staff being rude / unprofessional.
The thing I miss most from 1997 when I qualified is the team working together 24/7 to a shared goal.
Why have we lost that direction?
How can we bring everyone back to one goal?
I have many questions & concerns.
The NHS people plan suggests
"This is a promise we must all make to each other – to work together to improve the experience of working in the NHS for everyone."
Sometimes doing the "right" thing is not the easiest / most acceptable thing.
I will always try to choose the right path.
About 10 years ago, I made a promise to my dad that I would always #makeadifference.
I will always do that to the best of my ability. #APNP#advancedpractice
I am not looking for work. I do plenty already. A few years ago, I registered with @GoodSamApp.
I went to a number of cardiac arrest calls (some good outcomes, some not so good but was able to support the family).
@NWAmbulance changed their dispatch system & stopped sending us
The 2025 @ResusCouncilUK guidelines call for "First responder systems linked to AED registries, alongside improved ambulance and hospital processes, are central to reducing time to CPR and defibrillation and improving outcomes".
Will @GoodSamApp be switched back on?
I have an AED.
I have 30 years experience.
I am an Advanced Paediatric Life Support instructor.
If your relative collapses, firstly do you know what to do?
Secondly, let me help support you while we wait for an ambulance.
I am not an ambulance chaser, I might get there first.
