During their lunar flyby, the Artemis II crew enjoyed the rare opportunity to experience a solar eclipse from their Orion spacecraft.
With the Sun hidden behind the Moon, the astronauts were able to analyze the Sun’s outermost atmosphere, also known as the solar corona.

A timelapse view from our @SpaceX Dragon of the spectacular southern aurora seen in yesterday’s post, a result of a recent solar event. As opposed to the previous aurora I’ve seen, this one danced and snaked its way directly below us, putting on quite a show. I am in awe of this ethereal and emotionally evocative phenomenon.

Day 113, orbit 1753 — I love robotic operations! 🦾 In this timelapse, controllers on the ground are repositioning Dextre, our robotic handyman currently installed at the end of the Canadarm2. They used Dextre to unload equipment from the unpressurised Dragon trunk. Such a beautiful choreography to watch with Earth in the background!
Dextre is designed for delicate tasks and is attached to one end of Canadarm2 (the same robotic arm that we use to capture visiting cargo vehicles). Dextre is very often used to place scientific experiments outside of the ISS.
Go science! Go robotics!

The Zvezda service module transfer tunnel, known as PrK, has suffered from cracks and leaks for some time, and has been mitigated by Roscosmos as much as possible to date. The cracks have always been a concern that NASA watches very closely. NASA and Roscosmos have been working to determine the root cause of the cracks, and Roscosmos manages the issue through operational mitigation measures and periodic partial-repair efforts.
Following new leaks, Roscosmos has elected to proceed with a more extensive repair operation on Friday, June 5. Out of an abundance of caution, NASA has directed all four of the agency's SpaceX Crew-12 members and NASA astronaut Chris Williams to assume an elevated safety posture in the Dragon spacecraft while the repair is underway.
We continue to work with our Russian counterparts, along with the rest of the international community that supports the space station, to arrive at a more permanent resolution.

Day 111, orbit 1722 — In this timelapse, I’m working on an experiment called DNA Therapeutics in the Life Science Glovebox located in the Kibo module. I’m handling blood stem cell samples as part of research exploring the idea of producing large amounts of clinical grade stem cells in space. The goal is to improve their quality, which could help advance treatments for blood disorders and cancer.

🚀 We have increased our investment in the MIURA 5 Launch Complex at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG) to €35M.
This milestone makes PLD Space the first private operator to invest at this scale at the ELM-Diamant site, contributing to the evolution of Europe's historic spaceport.
At the same time, construction activities at the site continue to progress, with civil works now entering their final phase and completion expected this summer.
