Green flag. 🟢 The courts cleared the track, now it’s time to get a real speedway deal across the finish line for Nashville. 🏁
BREAKING: A petition to replace racing at Nashville Fairgrounds has just failed in court. This most likely ends any hope of trying to put a charter amendment on November’s ballot. Prior reporting below…newschannel5.com/news/newsch…

Did you lose a tree during the ice storm? I’ll have free dogwood trees available during my office hours next Saturday while supplies last. Stop by Flour Your Dreams Bakery from 8:00 to 9:30 AM to pick one up, say hello, and share any questions or concerns.

Great turnout at today’s Hermitage litter pickup. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped. Always good to see people come together and take pride in our community.

It’s time to get this deal done for Nashville.
I went to Nashville Fairgrounds yesterday to test @HoosierTire for the upcoming @CARSTour race there on April 11th. I had a lot of fun. I hadn't ran a lap there since middle of 1999. I raced there a dozen times in the mid 1990s when it was a hotbed for Late Model Stocks. You'd have 30 cars for a weekly 100 lap feature. It was amazing. Somehow the Late Model Stock footprint receded to western Tennessee over the years. Anyhow, the track is fast. There are some weeper issues and a massive bump off turn 2 but it wasn't nothing of real concern. We also got a chance to test mufflers. The noise ordinance makes them a requirement. Speaking of which, Marcus Smith wants to build a sophisticated sound barrier around the track once the local government can get on board. Another conversation for another time. It was emotional to make those laps yesterday. Like visiting an old friend and realizing they still were the same person you always admired. Cant wait to have our Pro and Late Model Stock cars there next month. We plan to be in town at Tootsies on Thursday evening to promote the tour and hopefully allow some folks to meet our drivers. It's gonna be a big weekend. Hope to see ya there. If ya cant, you can catch it live on @FloRacing

Today I’m announcing a new Emergency Preparedness Working Group through the Metro Council Public Health and Safety Committee. When emergencies happen, residents often call the council office they know and trust first.

This is about better coordination, clearer information, and being more prepared to serve Nashville when it matters most.

You never know who you’ll see at the Tennessee Capitol. Former University of Tennessee football coach Phil Fulmer and former Nashville Predators player Mike Fisher are advocating for a bill that would give TWRA dedicated state funding, instead of mainly relying on license fees.

I took the map of Nashville power outages (as of 4pm) posted by NES and made it a little clearer by overlaying major roads:
This map highlights restoration efforts since Sunday. Areas where power has been restored are marked in green, while areas still experiencing outages are indicated in red as of 1.28.26 at 4 p.m. Our teams are navigating tough conditions and broken poles, working extended shifts to ensure the quickest possible response. We know the wait is difficult, but we see you, we hear you and we won’t stop until everyone is green.

I-65 N at I-440 is presently shut down due to this situation. Roads, particularly in neighborhoods, are icy and hazardous. A number of traffic lights are out. Treat those intersections as 4-way stops.

Carrying a firearm is not a death sentence, it’s a Constitutionally protected God-given right, and if you don’t understand this you have no business in law enforcement or government.
If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you. Don’t do it!
Community note
The U.S. Constitution (particularly the 2nd, 4th, and 14th amendments) prohibit officers from shooting citizens merely for possessing a weapon that is not an “imminent threat”. This was reaffirmed in Graham v Connor, which says force must be reasonable. supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/… justice.gov/jm/1-16000-dep…. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitut…
