Excited to be facilitating at Ulearn 2024. Incorporating Literacy into STEM allows Ss to explore concepts while being naturally curious, actively share and be engaged in learning, having a voice and to develop literacy skills through experiences @LetsTalkScience @NLSchoolsCA

Spent a lot of time yesterday thinking on criticisms of UDL and snowplowing all the difficulties for students out of the way. Challenges need to be kept but barriers lowered/removed. It can be difficult to tell which are which sometimes. Knowing your S’s is critical.

Have a Cricut in your school? Learn how a tool like Google Drawing can allow students to make custom designs for free! Great for diorama props, greeting cards, decals, or even a shadow puppet theatre like the one in the video from @Seaside_elem! youtu.be/dv5-xb50vI0

A1. To me, alternative assessments are assessments that really focus on the six Cs of learning - they are non traditional (ie. paper pencil tasks) and can incorporate a wide variety of other skills. Here are some assessments I regularly use with students. #NLMathChat
