Talk about bittersweet. This year was my last in #caleg
But so proud Team Skinner was able to deliver 15 bills in 2024 to Gov. @GavinNewsom - including two he already signed.
Here are my #Caleg 13 bills now headed to @CAgovernor 's desk:
Our economy thrives when workers are empowered and paid fairly. That's why I'm proud to stand with the movement to raise the minimum wage to $17/hr.
We deserve to live in a country where nobody has to struggle to make ends meet, where dignity and fair compensation are the norm.
Access to livable wage jobs, stable housing, economic supports, and inclusion into society as whole human beings are all critical components of successful reentry. It takes a community and @CROPOrg1 is here for it!
#PeopleOverPunishment#NormalizeFairChance
At CROP, we know firsthand the challenges faced by individuals exiting the carceral system. That's why its programs are designed to be truly restorative and transformative, helping people to rebuild their lives and communities.

The "Success" I believe starts with the ReEntry Program/Org. My son is a "Felon". That box needs to be erased. No boxes. Let's start looking at the success rates. Believe in Second Chances 🙏
As of January 1, 2023, phone calls from California prisoners are free. The Keep Families Connected Act, Senate Bill 1008, was signed into law by Governor Newsom on Sept. 29. davisvanguard.org/2022/12/fr…
Had an amazing dinner last night with @PrisonPostHost last night. It was great hearing about the amazing work that is being done in California.
Y’all need to follow him and the incredible work he is doing and check out his podcast!!!!
We accept that there are bad jobs & good jobs because we're conditioned to believe that there is a subset of people that don't deserve good jobs. That conditioning is based on race & gender, leaving Black & brown women at the wayside.
What if there were no bad jobs?
The Governor has signed another two of our bills…
1) Ends the practice of Prison Gerrymandering forever in California. Now, people who are incarcerated will be counted as residents of their home community and not where the prison is located when drawing political boundaries.
The second ends the practice of charging parents for their children’s foster care.
This bill has inspired federal movement and there are members of congress drafting a bill to match our intent as we speak.

The U.S. joins only 3 other countries that have restricted abortion access since 1994: Poland, Nicaragua & El Salvador.
Over the same period, 50 nations have made it easier to get an abortion, including Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Ireland, Thailand & S. Korea.
