Beware of sophisticated online scams as we head towards #COP28 The latest involves contacting people in Ireland to tell them that they owe people in Africa money for bad weather.

Did I just hear an NGO-head on local radio news at 1pm saying that there's 120,000 vacant houses in Northern Ireland and that there's no shortage of accommodation, in relation to a report on the "anti racism" rally yesterday? Why are they allowed to spread such misinformation?

Main character syndrome
If you visit St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome please remember, Catholicism is a religion of obedience & follow the rules. Also, etiquette is not optional. This is what main character syndrome looks like.

Next week: DEBUNKED: Ben Scallan falsely claims Hope & Courage misled viewers on live television. Our researchers have confirmed it wasn’t live, as there’s actually a 5 minute delay in broadcasting.

How odd - it's been several days since the head of the Hope and Courage Collective made a verifiably false claim on live TV, saying "We're not [funded by the State] actually", when they are, yet there's been no sign of The Journal's fact check yet. Any day now I'm sure. 🤪
The Hope and Courage collective NGO received €68k from the Dept. of Equality in just one year (link: shorturl.at/gu0sC). In 2024 they also received €14k from IHREC, a taxpayer-funded State agency (link: shorturl.at/WDY0G). None of their income came from donations.

Just 84% of Belfast's population was born in NI according to 2021 census data. Probably 75% now, like in Ireland. And probably 45% in another couple of decades......
Belfast ranks 32nd per capita for asylum seekers in the UK. Northern Ireland hosts 2,379 in total. That’s 0.1% of its population. NI is 97% white. Asylum seekers are not “illegal migrants”; they’re going through a legal government process. factcheckni.org/articles/imm…

Yesterday in Dáil Éireann I asked a simple question: who is telling the truth? Minister Norma Foley has publicly stated that she had no knowledge of the book “What’s the T.” Yet former Fine Gael Minister Charlie Flanagan has stated that he personally spoke to her in 2023 and asked her to read it. Both accounts cannot be correct. I put that question directly to Minister Peter Burke, standing in for the Taoiseach and Tánaiste. His response was that he could not comment because he knew nothing about the matter. That is not accountability. When there are two conflicting public accounts from senior political figures, the public is entitled to a clear answer. Silence is not an answer. I will continue to pursue this issue until the facts are established. Watch the video below and decide for yourself. #Dail #Politics #Accountability #Transparency #IndependentIreland

Anyone in the USA who still funds Sinn Fein must realise that they can't be a nationalist and a globalist. Sinn Fein are globalists - and traitors to Ireland.
Ireland 🇮🇪 🇮🇪 Mary Lou McDonald and her toxic Sinn Féin outfit are being humiliatingly rejected in Northern Ireland. Their catastrophic failures in the north and south reveal a bankrupt, irrelevant party that Irish people are rightly abandoning in disgust.

The #BeKindAlways gang will soon be along to try to smear this man as a racist.
"Ashling represents the best of everything Ireland is. She represents beauty and kindness, compassion, and talent, love and innocence. This will forever be her legacy. Ireland is a better place because she was here. I ask the Puska family sitting here today: what is your legacy? What have you done for Ireland but damage it beyond repair. You all came to our great country in search of a better life, but built that life on a strong foundation of taking, never giving. A family who benefited greatly from everything our nation offers to those in need while contributing absolutely nothing in return. A family who knew, without question, that one of their own had gone out into the streets of Tullamore and murdered our beautiful girl in the most horrific way imaginable. And instead of doing what was right, instead of doing the honourable thing by coming forward and telling Gardai what you knew, you did everything possible to conceal what you knew and to destroy vital evidence in the hopes that my family would be left without justice and closure for the rest of our lives, while your husband and brother would be left free to roam the streets of Ireland to possibly do this all over again to another innocent family." - Victim Impact Statement of Ray Murphy, father of Ashling Murphy

Similarly, Dan, how would a #FactCheck for any one on social media claiming that migrants are receiving social housing ahead of the Irish? Your Rapid Response Misinformation Unit would have to produce open data statistics to prove otherwise.
Replying to @BillyKelleherEU
Our government needs to push back more actively on social media. I think we need a dedicated unit designed to combat online misinformation. Its role should be to provide facts in response to the fantasies that flourish on this platform.
