People making the point that this is about creeping authoritarianism aimed at adults, which it is, but the ongoing crusade for "parent's rights" e.g. to reaffirm that children are the property of their parents and deserve zero autonomy whatsoever is also a crucial aspect of this.

I was in Ft. Macleod on June 11, 2025 when Premier Smith said she would accept the results of a successful Water Not Coal petition and would allow Albertans to vote on it. How contemptuous she is of Abs who respond to her promises of direct democracy. A liar.

Smith, herself, used those rights to extinguish the claims of 400,000 Alberta pensioners when they wanted to sue AIMco for losing $2.1 billion of their savings in the VOLTS debacle. Smith could use the same powers to extinguish the coal company claims. She just chooses not to.

The man said that the switch from AISH to ADAP was the last straw for him and he was going to take his own life. He told us not to bother trying to stop him. We did anyway. I found his physical address in seconds, Zachary Weeks reached out to the RCMP. We did what we could. A few minutes ago we received word that the man did, in fact, succumb to suicide. I am gutted. We all are. Mostly because we're all terrified that this is going to happen again over the next few months as people become victims of this government's callousness and their own despair.
