Expose young people to the assistive tech in classrooms etc. Ensure all design courses cover universal design from day 1 to the last day. Mainly ensure there are career opportunities in mainstream organisations that require knowledge in the area. #AXSChat

I was placed in a nursing home facility at 24 years of age. I used a wheelchair but had no actual care need. It was the only place that had accessible housing which I then had to pay for as I went back to employment asap. Four years it me took to find suitably accesible housing.

#AT#AssistiveTech should address specific access barrier, it is often more personalised to the users need or preference. #MainstreamTech can be informed by assistive advances and apply these to improve usability / productivity for everyone.
