Amazing young ladies of @ursulinesligo #Sligo
Hugely proud moment for us in the Ursuline Sligo as we watched Ella Joyce and Ava Pastor appear on the Late Late show with confidence and expertise. They told us a little about their BT Young Sciebtist project here-have a listen! #weareucs #famousnow @lecheiletrust1

Expose young people to the assistive tech in classrooms etc. Ensure all design courses cover universal design from day 1 to the last day. Mainly ensure there are career opportunities in mainstream organisations that require knowledge in the area. #AXSChat

I was placed in a nursing home facility at 24 years of age. I used a wheelchair but had no actual care need. It was the only place that had accessible housing which I then had to pay for as I went back to employment asap. Four years it me took to find suitably accesible housing.
Over 1,300 people under 65 are living “wasted lives” in nursing homes that are inappropriate for their needs, a damning new report has found | @aranliathroid irishexaminer.com/news/arid-…

We like the look of this. How good would it be to have hubs near our main cycle tracks that could offer a range of accessible bikes and scooters.Ideas like this need to be explored and in doing so include us in the conversation. @struggleiswheel #bikelife fastcompany.com/90605847/the…

#AT #AssistiveTech should address specific access barrier, it is often more personalised to the users need or preference. #MainstreamTech can be informed by assistive advances and apply these to improve usability / productivity for everyone.

Q1 @AntonyRuck noted that at #DATEurope they are working on closing some of the barriers. Does the community of people with disabilities need #AssistiveTech #AT formerly called #adaptivetech? Or has mainstream #tech replaced it? #AXSChat #digital

Waiting list are not due to an unprecedented situation. They are historic resulting from lack of therapists “As this is an evolving and unprecedented situation, the HSE will keep matters in review and will advise clients and/or family members accordingly.” irishexaminer.com/news/arid-…

Since my child was born, we have fought for services every step of the way. Just like thousands of other parents, we were landed into the "system" and boy has it been an eye opener. The endless waiting lists for assessment and diagnosis. The delight in (falsely) believing that
