2¹³⁶²⁷⁹⁸⁴¹−1, discovered today, is the largest known prime. It's a Mersenne prime (2ᵖ-1), which are easier to find.
It took nearly 6 years for the GIMPS software to find it after the previous largest known prime. It was also the first Mersenne prime found using GPUs.

The UK team excelled at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad, held in Bath, UK, placing joint 6th out of 108 countries.
The UK team was made up of 6 students, who earned 2 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal!

Meet the team representing the UK at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), held in Bath. Team UK won the 'Ashes' tournament between UK and Australia (pictured). This is a tradition held at the Pre-IMO between the two teams.
