This will bring the total number of the Coalition’s participants to 50. Just addressed Panel 6 at #ShangriLaDialogue 2026 on "Evolving Security Partnerships in a Fragmenting World". My message: fragmentation is not destiny. 🔹 The war in Ukraine — now in its 5th year, millions of casualties — both illustrates and accelerates global fragmentation. But NATO is clear-eyed and acting. 🔹 At The Hague Summit, all 32 Allies committed to 3.5% GDP on defence 1.5% on infrastructure. Europe & Canada invested $574B last year alone — a 20% increase. We are turning billions into battalions. 🔹 Partnerships are not a talking point. They are how we counter industrial fragmentation, build interoperability, and project credible deterrence. Standards, doctrine, data, AI — together we can outperform. 🔹 Defence industry must accelerate. Procurement cycles designed for a predictable era are no match for today's threats. The time to move faster is now. 🔹 Security is a whole-of-society endeavour. Academia, industry, NGOs, local government — every citizen is a participant, not merely a beneficiary. 🔹 Our goal is not just resilience — it is anti-fragility. Partnerships and societies so strengthened they don't even feel the shocks. I just spoke with President @NicusorDanRO of Romania about the Russian drone that hit a residential building in Galati. I assured him of NATO’s absolute solidarity with Romania and expressed sympathy for those injured in the incident. I affirmed that NATO stands ready to defend every inch of Allied territory. We will continue to enhance our readiness to deter and defend against any threat, including from drones. Russia’s reckless behaviour is a danger to us all. They continue to target civilians and civilian infrastructure across Ukraine. And last night showed yet again that the implications of their illegal war of aggression don’t stop at the border. Russia’s war needs to end, as does Russia’s disregard for civilian safety. For our part, we will continue to strengthen our deterrence and defence at home and continue our support for Ukraine as they defend against Russia’s aggression.

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Kevin Hamilton on the sidelines of the NATO-Serbia multinational tactical exercise, held at Base South near Bujanovac. 🇷🇸 The Minister of Defence highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue between the Republic of Serbia and NATO at all levels on matters of mutual interest, highlighting Serbia’s commitment to military neutrality and to establishing good relations with all relevant international security actors. He said that our country remains a committed and credible partner, as well as a guarantor and generator of regional security, committed to maintaining an optimal level of cooperation with NATO within the framework of the Partnership for Peace programme. He also underlined Serbia’s priorities – the preservation of regional stability, continued economic development and growth, and the promotion of dialogue as the principal mechanism for addressing outstanding issues. Minister Gašić stressed that participation in UN and EU multinational peacekeeping operations is of particular importance for our armed forces, as is participation in exercises aimed at enhancing operational and functional capabilities and meeting the standards required for engagement in multinational operations. The Minister of Defence said that the exercise is the result of joint efforts, professionalism, and high level of preparedness demonstrated by Serbian Armed Forces units and participating troops from several NATO member states. He also noted that cooperation in the organization and preparation of the exercise had been conducted to a high standard. Addressing the current political and security situation in the region, Minister Gašić stressed that the Serbian Armed Forces remain committed to cooperating with KFOR, which is the only legitimate armed formation in Serbia’s southern province, and expressed confidence that KFOR will continue to provide a safe environment for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. mod.gov.rs/eng/23295/sastana…
