I don't have many strong and informed opinions, but when it comes to PoC politics, that's one exception because I study them. Lots of ill takes here on PoC & the election. Rather than criticize, let me provide some evidence-based input on the election and the preceding monthsđŸ§”

Thrilled to see my paper with @patrickpliu in the APSR! We address a crucial question in political psychology — whether persuasive attempts targeting deeply held issues cause attitudes to grow more extreme or encourage moderation — using tailored AI-powered surveys.
Just published on APSR First View: "Confronting Core Issues: A Critical Assessment of Attitude Polarization Using Tailored Experiments" by Yamil Ricardo Velez and Patrick Liu. cambridge.org/core/journals/

I think this paper sets a great standard: controlled survey or lab experiment is not enough, we need to connect effects to population data to understand implications. Here, the population patterns are so stark that they overturn the naive inference from the experiment.
New in @ScienceMagazine What FB news drove COVID vax hesitancy in US? False misinfo? Not so much: We find unflagged ‘vax-skeptical’ news had *46X larger* impact than flagged misinfo Why? Flagged misinfo had bigger impact when seen, but ~100x fewer views science.org/doi/10.1126/scie
