How?! How is this not illegal? This car was a block away and this is the light it cast in our house. And I live on the 2nd floor! @StBrianAerial

Amazing talk with stunning visuals at today’s #AGU22 plenary by @BabakTafreshi Let’s hope it inspired more researchers to consider #ALAN as an environmental issue.

Also, @MayorFrey: your statement that "criminals fear a well-lit street" is unfounded in fact. I can show you plenty of studies to the contrary. If you're interested in learning what street lighting actually *can* do for communities, have someone on your staff contact me.

Can you spot the difference? 🧐 These images were taken by European astronauts from the International @Space_Station 10 years apart, 400 km above #Earth. They are the best source for scientists to map #LightPollution. 📸 @nasa/@esa@astro_andre @AstroSamantha/@cities4tnight

My appearance on the @RestoringDrknss podcast just dropped. What can we learn from observing LP from the stratosphere? How can we get the lighting industry on board? (A nod to @skyglowberlin for inspiring many aspects of our work @AdlerPlanet) restoringdarkness.com/episod…

6.5 million birds crossed Cook County last night. This morning, CBCM rescued & recovered nearly 300 birds, including this unfortunate vireo. This tragedy is preventable. Chicago must take action now to change. It starts with all of us. It ends with the life of an innocent bird.

It's (officially) paper day! This review was ~2 years in the making. It was posted to astro-ph a few weeks ago, but the properly typeset version is up. Thanks to @salvabara, @KWalzar et al. who gave constructive feedback on early versions. nature.com/articles/s41550-0…

I’m afraid LEDs have made many people forget what daylight is for.

Oh the irony! Our Indy light pollution mapping flight went great last night. Got stuck in a tree. Now searching out a tree climber. What’s the view from outside my hotel window last night?

BIG news out of the U.S. Supreme Court today on regulation of (often illuminated) signs. In clarifying Reed v. Town of Gilbert (2015), the Court upheld a municipal ban prohibiting businesses from off-location advertising on digital billboards or signs. scotusblog.com/2022/04/in-au…
