Today, I took the Oath of Office on a bible that belonged to my sharecropper great-grandparents, administered by the second African American to serve in the SC Senate since Reconstruction and became the second youngest legislator of the 170 member SC General Assembly. Grateful.

He’s rights — it is egregious. My constiuents in Blythewood and NE Columbia would share a Congressional Representative with folks in Pickens County which is 100 miles away and are in no way communities of interest.

After voting in Orangeburg, U.S. House Rep. Jim Clyburn said the proposed congressional map was probably the most “egregious” he has seen since the 1890s.
