Apparently Korean and overseas versions of the Generation 4 Pokémon games could trade via the GTS
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the changes that were made to Korean Pokémon were well documented, so I'm trying to find out some more details
ALT GTS로 세계 여러 나라의 트레이너와 포켓몬 교환! 축복시티에 있는 「글로벌 트레이드 스테이션」(약칭 GTS)은 세계 여러 나라의 트레이너들과 포켓몬 교환을 할 수 있는 시설입니다. Wi-Fi 통신으로 연결되어 있는 GTS에 교환하고 싶은 포켓몬을 맡긴 후 원하는 포켓몬을 선택합니다. 조건이 맞는 트레이너가 있을 경우 교환이 성립됩니다. 물론 다른 트레이너가 맡긴 포켓몬을 검색할 수도 있습니다. 세계 여러 나라의 트레이너와 힘을 합치다 보면 「포켓몬 도감」 완성도 꿈이 아닙니다. 맡길 포켓몬을 정한 후 원하는 포켓몬을 선택하세요. 그 후에는 교환 조건이 맞는 트레이너를 기다리기만 하면 됩니다. 원하는 포켓몬의 이름, 성별, 레벨 을 입력하세요. 만난 적이 있는 포켓몬이라면 이러한 방법으로 GTS에 맡겨져 있는지 확인할 수 있습니다. ※ 「글로벌 트레이드 스테이션」에서는 해외판과도 Wi-Fi 통신이 가능합니다.

Rewritten/"gone" is way too much of an assumption. Game state management is server-side; info is selectively transmitted only if revealed/necessary. They did a pretty good job, tbh. Only downside is no local play, and incentive to not host long-winded 6v6 battles ;)

Champions' auto team creator sets a limit of 2 Mega Stones and 2 Z-Crystals per team. Note the type-limit is different for each.

Dynamax/Terastal are also present in the list of events/form-states, so you can't really assume that Z-Crystals are the "next" gimmick coming.

Brief inspection of some data structures: EVs are stored literally [0..n] per stat -- not same as mainline, which is based on EVs / 4. PID is retained -- good news for Spinda fans! Shiny is stored separately as a byte 0/1. ApiRentalTeamMemberParam appears to store IVs... 💤

oops, I was wrong about the plus move flags; they do set them! (milotic trade evolution not setting them is truth) -- deleted those two tweets regarding "home doesn't set them"
my other complaints about backwards transfer are still applicable :D

The HOME data format is 1000% capable of handling backwards transfers via the HOME tracker; they just simply decided to not allow it. Conditionally sanitizing values was done for SW/SH, just pick safe defaults if the game can't support a given property. It's very disappointing.

HOME saves the side-game specific data, kinda like a seasonal wardrobe. When entering a game, grab your seasonal attire if it already exists. Otherwise, create a new blank outfit.

There are at least 4 more abilities that are "not" added to HOME 4.0.0, hinting that not all Megas will initially be supported.

Piercing Drill - When the Pokémon uses contact moves, it can hit even targets that are protecting themselves, dealing 1/4 of the damage that the move would otherwise deal. Everything aside from the target’s protective effects is still triggered.
