This weekend at a journal's editors meeting, incredible public health practitioners are bringing up the insufficiencies of our efforts to get research back to communities (esp. with open access, etc.). Publication is only one part this!
While I hope to keep bringing this up in our discussions, I'm beginning a personal project to create TLDR/I don't speak academic/anti-academic capitalism summaries of my own work. It's limited, but it's something in my control.
Healthcare visits 🩺🩻 can be traumatizing and stigmatizing, especially when it comes to sex and HIV prevention. Help us help! Looking for women in #ATLANTA to talk to about preferences for sexual health counseling- compensation provided!

I just scheduled about 40 emails to send at 8:00 am. When you get yours, thank my chair, who (correctly) mentored me to examine my 3am emails from the perspective of others. Some may view it as pressure considering my status as their PI or mentor.
Heeded. So sharing.

Thank you my sister, @Winnie_Byanyima , for beautifully expressing the crucial role of communities in the fight against AIDS. On #WorldAIDSDay, we remember the lives lost and honor the resilience of communities who have illuminated the path towards the end of AIDS through their advocacy and innovation. Together, let's continue to support and amplify their invaluable contributions in the global HIV response. #EndAIDS
Communities are not in the way, they light the way to the end of AIDS.
On #WorldAIDSDay we commemorate the over 40 million lives lost to the AIDS pandemic.
And we celebrate the advocacy & innovation that communities have brought to the global HIV response.
