While it's no doubt that leaders are strong and capable, they're not invincible. Great points here from Alicia A. Grandey and @DinaDSmith on why more companies need to support leaders as they juggle increased amounts of #EmotionalLabor. @HarvardBiz hbr.org/2022/11/the-emotiona…

Navigating the workplace means understanding how to navigate emotions. They're a fact of life and will arise at some point in your career. The key is learning how to slow down, process them, and act from a place of being conscious of the impact you make.
.@MarkCCrowley is right— logging on to our computer or stepping into an office doesn't magically make our #emotions disappear. Could embracing them be the key to leading committed and motivated teams at work? inc.com/marcel-schwantes/lea…
You are inextricably linked to others. How you work together becomes key to being good humans and making work better. When leaders realize it no longer serves to focus solely on their own results, teams and companies become more #resilient and more #productive.

Working through problems takes work and will challenge you. You can still adopt an outcome-creating mindset, however, and create momentum and meaning by focusing on the next step and then the next one after that. Know your goal and move towards that!
We can’t solve our problems through positive thinking and affirmations alone.

Sometimes, it's hard to know when our #values are "ignited." It can happen both when good and bad things happen. The key, however, is to pause and sit in that moment. It will help deepen your awareness and help you know what really matters to you.
Are you managing your life according to your own values, or are you simply being carried along by the tide?

Today is #NationalStressAwarenessDay. In case you need it, take this post as a sign to slow down and think about how you're feeling. Do you need to take a break? When it comes to managing stress on a daily basis, having boundaries is crucial. Be clear about them!
Here's another #HumanityHotTip! Look beyond - yourself. We really believe this is a key leadership skill. Look beyond what you need to get accomplished and check in with your people who are helping you get those things accomplished. #leadership #team #humanity @humanityworks_

If startups continue to glorify "hustle culture," they could be facing a rude awakening soon. With talent retention more important than ever, humanizing the workplace and prioritizing employee well-being will be key to staying competitive. @YourStoryCo yourstory.com/2022/09/startu…
A helpful piece of wisdom for your week. Are you willing to open yourself up to change?
Being someone who’s coachable makes you a way more valuable part of any team—whether as a leader, coworker, friend, partner, etc. It’s such an easy thing to adopt and embody if you want to. And it’s worth it to your career and the better relationships you’ll build as a result.
Is your organization ready to dare to be different? While trends might try to convince you that perks like in-house gyms or happy hours are the key to a great #culture, don't be fooled. Employees are really looking for a place where they feel safe to be themselves.
In our latest newsletter, we highlighted the work of @octanner and the importance of #recognition in the workplace. In their research, they found that there is an 18x increased probability of great work when employees are recognized. More stats below ⬇️ octanner.com/global-culture-…

"People want to improve when it's clear that you care." Couldn't agree more with this. That's why humanity works better. 🙌

Feedback is not about sizing people up. It's about helping them grow. 78 studies: criticism is more motivating when you (a) meet face-to-face; (b) compare behavior to a standard, not to others; (c) suggest changes to make. People want to improve when it's clear that you care.
The truth is that you cannot control the unintended or even intended impacts you make. Life will get messy, and at times you will land in a way that you did not intend. You cannot and will not be perfect at owning your impact. But you can begin to become aware of it.
“Never compare your journey with someone else’s. Your journey is your journey, not a competition.” That comparison voice is very old and not serving you any more!

I fall into the comparison trap often. Why didn’t I think of that? Why aren’t I smarter? Are what I tell myself when I see people do great things. The antidote is learning to celebrate accomplishments of others. To be thankful I’m in a community with so many wonderful people.

Often rooted in fear, #resistance can feel personal and uncomfortable and make you want to distance yourself from it. Our advice at @humanityworks. Step towards the resistance, seek to understand what it is underneath it. A great read @sabinanawaz ⬇️ hbr.org/2022/10/how-to-move-…

We can't control everything, but we can control our #mindset. Instead of looking at slip-ups as failures, try looking at them as the learning that will get you to the place you need to be. Choose another perspective!
“Well, that didn’t go according to plan,” is a phrase I’ve been saying a lot over the last year. So easy to get overwhelmed. But trying to remember that surprise changes also leave room for magic. Hope some magic shows up soon.
Trust is a singular word with the power to influence so much. Yet, we all bring different meaning to this simple word. In a healthy workplace culture, high levels of trust are evident, which allows you to bring the fullest expression of your potential to the workplace.

At @humanityworks, we believe that listening is a superpower. However, when it comes to helping speakers feel heard, you're not always going to use the same approach. Interesting thoughts here from Nancy Duarte for @mitsmr on "adaptive listening." sloanreview.mit.edu/article/…

A spot-on observation that's especially timely as the corporate world grapples with #burnout and #QuietQuitting. How are you enabling your team to protect and optimize their energy?
The more I do my work, the more I'm convinced: Energy is the real currency. Putting your energy behind something, truly, is a force of nature.
