Last week was all about representing multiplication of a fraction by a whole number. After we modeled some problems using pattern blocks, we played this great partner game from @MathCoachCorner to really solidify our learning. @LCISDeast #EEpirates @lubbockcooper #piratefamily

Today we kicked off our Coordinate Plane unit by reading “The Fly on the Ceiling”, a math myth about the creation of the Cartesian System by Rene Descartes. Then we plotted ordered pairs from the story on our Learning Carpet. So much fun! @LCISDeast #EEpirates @lubbockcooper

Today we’re working on writing algebraic expressions! I got the idea from @mathchick5 to use the book “One is a Snail Ten is a Crab” to make this complex topic more student friendly. I love the literacy connection. My 5th graders had a blast! @LCISDeast #EEpirates @lubbockcooper
