I am unable to participate in the UK #marchwithmidwives vigils today as I’m sadly on the other side of the world 🌎. But I would certainly be there if I could 💪 #midwifery #midwives #NHS

On Sunday, vigils will be taking place in 72 different locations in the UK to promote professional autonomy and working conditions for #midwives. ICM supports initiatives like @midwivesmarch in their efforts to strengthen #midwifery and women’s #SRHR. We stand with you ✊

Teaching KGH today with midwife Maureen Collins. Standing with the midwives! #MarchWithMidwives No free speech about issues! fear of reprisal; lack of autonomy 4 midwives, increasing medicalised processes without evidence of improving outcomes, the underfunding and understaffing

I absolutely love this sentence and it's good to know when you're in labour. Staying relaxed is key. There were times, during the births of my own children, that the power of the surges took me to the edge of what I thought I could handle. The more you relax, the less it hurts.

This was actually my favourite affirmation during both of my own labours. There were times the power of the surges took me to the edge of what I thought I could handle but I kept coming back to this affirmation. Think of it as a tool to help keep you relaxed and focused. An a

An affirmation to remind you to breathe calmly, deeply and evenly during labour. Concentrating on the breath cannot be underestimated during labour to help keep your mind and your muscles relaxed. PS Bookings taken for 1:1 Hypnobirthing KGH and my March GROUP HYPNOBIRTHING (KGH

If we don't highlight this issue, we are at risk of losing natural birth all together. In 2011, when I gave birth to my first daughter 'naturally', i.e. without medication or intervention, I was told by the midwives, I was told by the NHS (who were brilliant btw) that it was act

A care worker 28 weeks pregnant was told to go home due to the risk of #Covid. Sent home on no pay, w/o a risk assessment or offered alternative work. Read our legal officer Rhiannon Maddocks' blog on our casework. #MothersWork #ukemplaw #maternityrights maternityaction.org.uk/2021/…

🏠@AnnaTheMidwife shares insights from her MSc- exploring midwives' experiences of supporting complex homebirths or 'out of guideline' homebirths. With growing demand and sitting within a human rights framework it is important to learn how to support these choices 4/10

There are many maternity services that are now putting out their stats on how many babies have been born, their Caesarian rates, Induction rates, how many babies born at home and to be honest, I'm constantly shocked at the stats because so few people are experiencing normal birth

Being prepared is key but so many women have no idea they can prepare or why they might. It really does make a difference. Get in touch. I have a new booking system so people can book me to help them prepare for their baby's birth more easily bookme.name/katiedwards

I love this affirmation. When the surges get strong, it's good to know we can do it. There may be a phase or 3 where we have self-doubt. That's normal. They don't call it labour for nothing but keep breathing. You can do it! #birthyouinlove #hypnobirthing #kghypnobirthing #bornt

OK this might be a bit much for a Thursday afternoon but it is true that if we give birth what it needs to thrive then it is far more likely to do just that. #birthyouinlove #hypnobirthing #kghypnobirthing #borntothebeat #BTTB #pregnancydance #pregnancyfitness #meditation #impre

Aww, I just found this and thought I'd share here. Me and my little munchkins, Matilda and Seraphina, and my husband Dave at my sister Lucie's wedding pre-covid. They are 9 and 6 and we're reading Harry Potter at the moment and they're soooo into it! I've also created a new pl
