why do the unemployed keep being unemployed and the hired keep getting more jobs? I think it's a simple law of nature. Some call it the Matthew Effect, but I call it the Law of Momentum. a lady can stay single for so long without anyone ever asking for her first name but guess what, immediately someone starts talking to her, more and more guys keep coming. why do you think that your friend keeps having more and more boyfriends and talking stages? yup, a law of nature. those who are currently in the game stay in the game. you have to fight to enter the field and stay on the field. people that currently have a job are applying themselves, applying their knowledge, learning what works what and doesn't work in practice, they are doing practicals and not learning theories and building real time experiences. so immediately they signal that they are willing to take another role, another company swoops in. I don't know if hirers think people with gaps in their CVS were just sleeping and doomscrolling, maybe they were. I think the rationale is that hirers think they've lost their mojo, lost touch with how things now work, etc. and to an extent this is true, redundancy can make you forget what you can do. Well, if you're Jobless and trying to fight your way back into the field, here's what you can do: > Upskilling in public: I'm not just learning data analysis in private, I'm upskilling in public. Learn and upskill in public so potential hirers know you have a job gap, not a knowledge gap, and that you can adapt to industry trends. > The "Chewing Gum" Strategy: I'm attaching myself to projects I respect, providing value, volunteering, solving their problems, pitching in public and staying visible until my capacity is impossible to ignore. You may not be on the playing field yet, but you have to start acting like it till you get in there. I'm Keenye The Unusual, a research analyst & communications lead. My focus is on solving your two most crucial problems, which are revenue and community, through strategic data-backed communication. Kindly reach out if you need my services, or mention my name in rooms. Follow @KayDUnusual as I continue documenting publicly and sharing everything I learn along the way.

One of the best things that happened to me as a writer in this space was finding what I love writing about. I've always been one to learn new skills and do challenging stuff so I made sure to always go out of my way as a writer. I wrote the things I didn't understand. I explained protocols that gave me migraines the first time I heard of them, like I joined the team to build. And every time I did this, I felt a sense of satisfaction that I couldn't really explain. That's where my love for writing technical content started. I did more and more of it till I started calling myself "The Infra Interpreter" Since discovering this love for infra and technical explainers, I was no longer just trying to learn skills because of what other people were doing, I started trying to learn skills that amplified this love for explaining technical concepts. In the past 6 months I have mastered research and research analysis, I am currently an intermediate level researcher and today I am openly applying to learn Developer Relations at @DevrelUni. Getting into Devrel Uni will significantly transform my journey because it will equip me with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to approach developer and non-developer focused communication in web3. This will be an opportunity for me to move more out of the "just a writer" box and explore developer relations and communications in this space. This is my official application and I hope I have the privilege to mention @DevrelUni as a principal force in my success story. cc: @buzea200
