What an epic day it was! This year was the first time I attended #DutchGameDay, and the #DutchGameAwards, where I had the honour to be a jury member and give the Best Technology Award to @vertigogames for their outstanding work on #The7thGuest VR. The volumetric video blew us away, and the more subtle details like the lantern mechanics and the effect it has on the environment, the physical interactions you can have with props and the tech art visual flourishes scattered throughout the game. A proud moment for sure, and an experience I'll always remember fondly. Special thanks to @DGA_online for making this happen!

Some more @Substance3D Designer SDF experimentation to wrap my head around SDF modeling/design. Of course it had to be donuts! (Next up is sprinkles, "hagelslag" as we say in NL, then a coffee cup and maybe some plates, and scatter it all around.

The new @Substance3D #Substance3dDesigner SDF nodes take some getting used to and are tons of fun to explore and play with. Things in the past could be a bit finicky to get right are a breeze now, like this 5-min chain-maille doodle.

I found the Tesselation option! It's now a handy button on the left of the 3d view, and there's evenm a ground plane option! :D

Today was fun! Special thanks to @HKUtrecht GSNI (Games Student Network Initiative) and Ilyas Ben Haddou and the volunteers to make this happen! Although the announcement mentioned the talk being solely about Substance Painter/Designer, we decided to go slightly broader and include online presence as an umbrella for portfolio building, creating your online ecosystem and making yourself easy to find as well as a bit on how to use AI as a tool in your toolbox . Thanks to the peeps attending for asking some great questions, which is always the highlight of doing this. More pics soon!

The right-side video is a visualiser created in @Substance3D Designer to check if the inside and outside of the brick were the right ratio, shape and scale.

The graph from previous post shows the setup, with the preview on the bottom. It uses exposed parameters to align the extruded height maps when rotating the camera. The texture set features 2 normal maps, one for the inside and one for the outside of the bricks. There's also AO maps for both. and heightmaps used with POM and Nanite (POM for the inside, Nanite for the top surface).
