The only person I can control - the only person who can make sure I’m living an integrated and holy life is me. Relying on God’s grace and ALL his gifts for sure - but no one else can do this for me but me.

What does it look like to set boundaries with your child who is living with mental illness when love, fear, and exhaustion collide? Does helping ever become enabling? How do I care for my child without burning out? How is family endurance built while navigating long-term mental health conditions? Please join me and HBT parents John and Kelly Rosati and Ken and Meaghan Grider on Wednesday, June 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (PT) as we explore these questions. Hosted by HBT’s Director of Content, David Mandani, MSW, MATS, we will discuss the practical realities of setting and communicating healthy boundaries while maintaining compassion for our children living with mental health challenges. This gave me pause today thinking about families: “Without time for talking, laughing, arguing, sharing stories, and showing affection, we are just a collection of people who share the same refrigerator.” Pauline Boss, Ambiguous Loss

Same……👍
I’m writing again. And so happy to be! 2 projects, one shorter non-fiction work and the other a novel. The fiction work will take longer because I have to do it on the side. I share this with you in order to give you my word about something. Now only the Lord knows if these works will come to fruition and get published. But I want to make you a promise you are welcome to hold me to. Even if the end result is mediocre and the work would have been better if I did, I will never use AI to do any writing I put my name on nor have I ever used or will I use a ghost writer. I want to say that plainly especially as I get older. I respect my readers and Bible study participants. These aren’t groupies and book buyers don’t just represent numbers to me. I have a lot of flaws but God has treated me so mercifully that I want to serve people well. Please don’t hear this in an arrogant tone because nothing is further from my mind. I’m not one bit better than those who have done or will do any of these things. And goodness knows I’ve committed more grievous sins in my lifetime. But this writing part of my life has been such unmerited grace that I’ve tried to treat it with care. Anyway, I wanted to get that off my chest. If I put it out there, it’s mine. Even if you give it a D. :)

Parenting a child with mental illness can often feel like having the same painful conversations over and over again. Our deepest desire is to see our child choose help, yet their illness may prevent them from doing so. How can we build a strong relationship and offer support without compromising our own boundaries? Please join me on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. (PT) for a conversation with world-renowned clinical psychologist Dr. Xavier Amador. We’ll explore why a child may be unable to acknowledge their mental illness, how to prioritize connection as a pathway to help, practical ways to set boundaries, and how active listening can help de-escalate conflict. Have you ever found yourself wondering, “Why does my child refuse help even when they’re clearly struggling?” Oftentimes, we are so desperate to get our children help, but instead of building a relationship of trust that leads to treatment, we seem to end up creating conflict. Please join me and world-renowned clinical psychologist Dr. Xavier Amador on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. (PT), as we talk about boundaries and communication that can deepen trust with our loved ones and, in turn, create an environment where treatment may become possible. I started the nonprofit, Hope for Brighter Tomorrows (HBT), because parents of kids (any age) with mental illness shouldn’t have to walk alone. Now HBT is on social media, and I'd love for you to be part of what we're building! Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for encouragement rooted in faith, trusted mental health resources, and a community that truly gets it. Click the link in the bio.

I didn’t repost the vile video of the Obamas but I condemned.it. I won’t repost the image of the president but I condemn it. Any person who loves Jesus cannot see our Lord profaned and call the offender “rough around the edges.” It’s blasphemy.

Here there are certainly questions of international law, but even more than this a question of morality for the good of people.” He adds the war is “continuing to escalate and is not resolving anything… is only provoking more hatred throughout the world.” “attacks on civilian infrastructure are against international law, but it is also against sign of the hatred and division that we are capable of.” Video @Reuters

I have exciting news! Registration is now open for Stronger Together, a marriage enrichment experience for parents of children (any age) with mental illness. This one-day marriage event will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at The Ranch at Laguna Beach, in beautiful Laguna Beach, CA. Rick and I know marriage comes with its own set of challenges, and parenting a child with mental illness can intensify those tough times. We remember the strain it put on our emotional connection, communication, and our physical well-being. The weight of it all left us feeling alone and overwhelmed, far from God’s vision for marriage. Stronger Together offers you a much-needed day of rest, reconnection, and renewal. What if you could step away from the demands of everyday life, turn toward your spouse, and connect with other couples walking a similar path? Leave feeling seen, supported, and filled with fresh hope. This marriage enrichment experience is a day-long event, hosted at a beautiful, award-winning resort, and includes candid and personal teaching from Rick and me, an engaging panel of couples sharing relatable stories, meaningful opportunities to build community, and delicious meals and snacks—all for $299 per couple. Our previous couples’ event filled in 12 hours. Space is limited to 60 couples, so I encourage you to reserve your spot as soon as possible. To register, click the link in bio. For more information, please email Info@HopeForBrighterTomorrows.org. Come reflect, receive support, and grow with us. We’re looking forward to spending this meaningful day together.
