I went from being a 5’4 100 pound high school freshman told I could never play college ball...to breaking 5 school records my senior year-becoming the first player in school history to be featured in the Chicago Sun-Times. Still, I was told wasn’t good enough play at a high level.
I walked on at 17 years old-JUCO, betting on myself, redshirted & earned a scholarship by spring. The next year… I fractured my collarbone, lost my season, every coach recruiting me, & dealt with a death close to me that hurt me bad. Was at the lowest point of my life, transferred JUCOs, then lost the staff that recruited me & eventually I had nowhere to play.
I went home & started working security, I still trained every day after work like I had a season.I kept my head down-stayed ready. Praying to God & got an opportunity to play in game. Don’t ever allow someone to limit your goals..
I never quit. Because I Truly love this game more than life itself.
I’m Grateful for every coach I met throughout my college journey & I’m thankful for my family & friends who supported me.❤️

Von Steuben grad Kaymen Coleman persevered through four previous college stops, two broken collarbones and time away from the game working security at a big-box store.

Please stop telling young people what they can't do rather show them how to grind so they can go around, above, or underneath the obstacles to reach their goals
