The Liberals are gearing up to force Bill C-22 through committee and the House of Commons in just days. This is an insane abuse of parliament to ram through a bill fraught with privacy, security, and civil liberties concerns. Plain language summary in next post.

Generation X is Canada's most cautious generation when it comes to food date labels. Our latest Agri-Food Analytics Lab survey found that 39.5% of Gen X respondents say they always or often throw away food once it passes its use-by date, compared to just 22.3% of Gen Z. The finding highlights a growing generational divide: younger Canadians appear more willing to rely on their own judgment, while Gen X places greater trust in date labels and food safety cues. The challenge? Confusion over date labels continues to contribute to avoidable food waste and higher grocery bills. #FoodWaste #FoodSecurity #FoodPolicy #cdnpoli #AgriFood #Sustainability

A UK student's reaction is going viral after Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Britain will ban children younger than 16 from using social media. During a BBC interview, the student revealed her screen time was nine hours over the weekend. When asked how she'd fill all that extra time without social media, she didn't hesitate: "Stare at a wall." The deadpan response is quickly becoming one of the most shared reactions to the UK's sweeping new restrictions on children's social media use.

I have formally tabled my first piece of legislation! Bill C-285 will save Canadians thousands of dollars by scrapping the GST on used cars. This is a responsible, costed, commonsense proposal I hope will have support across party lines.

BREAKING: KFC is doubling down on boneless chicken and expanding its beverage offerings as the chain looks to regain market share following a period of sluggish sales. The move reflects changing consumer preferences and intensifying competition in the quick-service restaurant sector.

This is frustrating - it means the town and the mayor need to go back to the HRTO to ask for the tribunal to reconsider the findings and penalties. They will also need to seek an extension in time to bring that reconsideration now. Frustrating, but depending on what happens at HRTO we may be back in this court in a few months.

With rumours of an imminent agreement between the U.S. and Iran that could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, gasoline and diesel prices have already started to decline across the country. That's welcome news for the food sector, particularly cold-chain logistics.

I've been asked numerous times what governments can do to increase grocery competition in Canada. For years, I've been advocating three simple measures: 1⃣Stop corporate welfare and government spending that distorts markets. 2⃣End property controls and restrictive covenants imposed by grocers that prevent competitors from entering communities. 3⃣Eliminate interprovincial trade barriers—for real, not just in speeches. If governments are serious about improving food affordability and consumer choice, these are the reforms that would make a meaningful difference.

This Liberal government has turned merit into an afterthought. A Canada Research Chair posting told applicants they had to belong to certain identity groups just to apply. How does Canada attract the best and brightest when the first test is identity?

Lawyers funded by the Justice Centre have sent a legal letter to the South East Cornerstone Public School Division (Board) on behalf of Lampman mother Tawney Johnson, who is calling on the Board to implement policies that protect the privacy, dignity, and safety of female students in school washrooms. The letter concerns allegations that a 17-year-old biological male transgender student has been permitted to use the girls’ multi-stall washroom at Lampman School, despite numerous female students expressing concerns that the current arrangement has left girls feeling unsafe, uncomfortable, and reluctant to use school washroom facilities. discoverweyburn.com/articles…
