A very special edition of Opera on 3 tonight @BBCRadio3. We celebrate the remarkable artistry of Dame Felicity Lott, with this 2004 performance of Der Rosenkavalier from @rbo_org — conducted by another much-missed musician: Sir Charles Mackerras. bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002xdw…

The irony of this … … when current USA border control policy is doing everything it can to prevent Black and Brown people entering the country. ⚽️⚽️⚽️ @franklinleonard @JamallBufford

🚨The recent images of Dr. Hussam Abu Safyia are shocking evidence of Israel's abuse against Palestinian detainees. Dr. Abu Safyia has been arbitrarily detained for one and a half years without charges, while being physically abused and denied healthcare. His recent solitary confinement adds a further layer of concerns over his deteriorating health. Dr. Abu Safyia must be immediately and unconditionally released. Israel must release all Palestinians arbitrarily detained. States must pressure Israel to stop abusing Palestinian prisoners. #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya

Opinion: You might have thought the world’s richest man had enough on his plate teeing up history’s biggest IPO. Yet he has been devoting many of his waking hours to stoking up racial hatred in Britain on his social media site. ft.trib.al/wsenHsI

We’re excited to introduce one of our speakers for Anti-Racism in the Curriculum: Taylar Carty ✨ A history PhD researcher at the University of Glasgow, Taylar’s work explores the lives and experiences of enslaved and apprenticed Black girls in Barbados between 1750–1838. Through a powerful, body-centred approach, her research challenges traditional narratives and offers a deeper understanding of girlhood and gender in Barbadian slave society. Passionate about education and heritage, Taylar has also worked as a consultant and curator across UK museums and heritage sites; helping to bring more inclusive, honest histories into public spaces. 🌍 Click the link to secure your ticket ➡️ ow.ly/FOnN50Z8cjr #Antiracismintheconference2026 #ARITC2026 #TBH385 #Safeguarding

Trumpian censorship in the UK Teacher, librarians under pressure to remove books on race, identity, social justice from libraries. 200 titles pulled from one Greater Manchester school library, including books by Black authors. What are we becoming? runnymedetrust.org/blog/eras…

Hegseth removed Chappie James's portrait from the Air Force Art Gallery and left the wall empty. James flew 179 combat missions across two wars. First Black four-star general in US military history. Curry passed that portrait every day for a decade. When it came down, he retired. The wall is still empty.
Sec. Hegseth’s actions continue to be despicable – and they certainly aren’t representative of the Army I served in. We’ve repeatedly seen how this White House has disparaged and mistreated both active-duty service members and the veterans who raised their hand to serve this country. I’m glad that people are continuing to stand up and speak out. theatlantic.com/magazine/202…

Meanwhile in the USA 🇺🇸 …
Trump’s name ripped off the Kennedy Center — but not before they put up scaffolding AND a massive curtain to shield the public from watching. Peak petty. Peak fragile. Peak humiliation. #FragileTrump #KennedyCenter

A judge decided that they knew better than the jury. That is not how our justice system is meant to work.
These four protesters, are going to be convicted on terrorist offences. That's very serious for their futures, but also for the justice system in our country. If people can admit liability for criminal activity, but still be found guilty as terrorists, it's deeply concerning.

🚨BREAKING: Filton 4 sentenced as terrorists Amnesty opposes the use of terrorism powers in this case. It is completely disproportionate to punish protesters for criminal damage as if they were terrorists, a sentence which stays with you for life. The defendants in today’s case were sentenced as terrorists because prosecutors want to make an example of them. Today's decision shows how direct action protesters could be treated in the future. The use of terrorism laws against direct action protesters must end. Together we must continue calling out the abuse of power and fighting for our right to protest. "Falmouth MP Jayne Kirkham reform of water industry." It's incredible when you think about it, South West Water has just been fined £1.85 million for poisoning a whole town, Brixham win Devon, that's the 165th offence they're been found guilty of and yet they still have an operating licence? What's the hells going on? falmouthpacket.co.uk/news/26…
