Each ballpark hosts around 3% of the games played in an MLB season. If this was Game 7 of the WS, would we collectively feel a league champion was found? Or would we feel like it wasn’t “real” because 97% of games played in the league play out so differently?

Random side note: MLB vets using Spring Training as just training is an earned privilege that does not apply to most. ST for many nowadays is about battling for a roster spot. Balancing development vs. performance in ST is often an overlooked challenge for non-established players

A personal example, in ‘21 the Stros were pushing me to try out a cutter in ST games. We felt it would be beneficial to my repertoire long term. Ultimately, I refused bc I was pitching well and I wasn’t willing to risk a performance lull that may result in not making the team

With that being said, I agree with Chris in that pitch design is the “lowest hanging fruit” for many in terms of time investment needed to make beneficial changes

Belichick is going back to school, to where his father served as an assistant coach in the 1950s.

Update: Belichick has agreed to become the next UNC coach. Belichick handed the school a 400 page “organizational bible” with structure, payment plans, staffing choices etc. decisions on whether to commit with UNC. He is expected to know their decision within 24 hours

What I believe to be the worst part of pitching: how inherently dangerous it is to an arm.
So much can feel out of a one’s control. It can feel unfair when one gets hurt despite doing all the right things.
That or one feels forced to work in a risky manner to get/keep a job
