Today, I had the privilege of officially inaugurating the Centre for Aviation Medicine (CAM)—a landmark achievement for the East African Community (EAC) and the aviation industry.
CAM embodies regional collaboration, a shared commitment to aviation safety, and a renewed focus on human performance in air transport. From early ICAO audits identifying gaps in aviation medical oversight to today’s realization of this vision, CAM now stands as a fully operational institution dedicated to aeromedical training, regulatory oversight, and cutting-edge research in aviation medicine.
Beyond individual health, this Centre will harmonize medical regulatory frameworks, enhance air connectivity, and build capacity among aviation medical experts, strengthening our regional aviation ecosystem.
