From my first @usopengolf at Shinnecock in 1986 to covering my fifth this week, one thing has never changed: Shinnecock Hills remains one of golf’s purest and toughest tests. My column in @danspapers looks at the evolution of the game and the timeless magic of Shinnecock. danspapers.com/2026/06/shinn…

By the way, 5 days post returning my car to Hertz in Dublin, they were kind enough to tack on €5000 on my Amex for "damage" with no particulars. War has been declared. Hertz now in the gunsights.@Hertz @HertzTeam76658 @HertzAssists

Another amazing trip to my favorite golf destination - Ireland. Flew into Shannon, stayed and played @TrumpDoonbeg (hosting @IrishOpen_ in Sept); drove up to @CarneGolfLinks for a great Int'l Members Week (ranked 63 in top 100 courses in the world! @GolfDigest), and finished our visit at @dromolandcastle Beautiful parkland course, luxurious accommodations, 10 mins from Shannon Airport. Highly recommend that itinerary 🍀💚⛳️ @GoToIrelandUS @metcalfealison1 @FionaMeehan @GerryMaguire18 @KevanKenney @eamonnodGolf

Carne Golf Links took my breath away. It’s one of those experiences that rolls you back to origins of golf when playing was a cross country adventure from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’. The scale of the dunes is at the “epic” end of any measurement. If you like your golf raw, book Carne

Played the Wild Atlantic Dunes 18 at @CarneGolfLinks today, which includes the final nine added by golf designer Ally McIntosh. Much nicer weather makes for much better pictures, a better game and a better score.

Every year we go back to @GalgormGolf and they've always spent the winter making significant upgrades to the course. This time a massive tree clearing project opening up views across the course. A totally different playing experience #golf @UlsterPressGolf

First round at Carne… 1. Truly wild, in every sense of the word. Wild weather, wild layout, wild dunes, wildlife, wild green sites. 2. Never seen dunes and a course with the scale of Carne. Every tee atop a dunes every green buried into another. 3. Another wild element is that the two courses share the same opening 7 holes and the final two holes. Was pretty confusing (not just for us). 4. An Augusta member told me to look out for the 14th hole and he was right. Incredible par three with a green sculpted into a dune crater (below) 5. Would highly advise a caddie. Each tee shot required an extensive deep dive into the yardage book. 6. Has to be one of the most challenging courses/walks anywhere in the world with some of the most punishing short side misses. But fun nonetheless. Met a young lad from Dublin who summited our tee and said “that was a hard hole, wasn’t it?! I just walked off with a 10!”

🚨🎙️| Micah Richards on why Barry’s goal against Manchester City should have been ruled out for offside under IFAB Law 11, points out a missed sending-off for a challenge on Doku: 🗣️ “I’m trying to stay calm here but I genuinely can’t understand how Manchester City have come out of this game empty-handed, because for me, this is two massive decisions, both wrong, and both going the same way. Let’s start with the goal. People keep saying it’s ‘tight’ or ‘subjective’ no, it’s not. Under the IFAB Law 11, if you’re in an offside position and you’re interfering with an opponent, that includes impacting a defender’s ability to play the ball or gaining an advantage from a deflection or phase of play. That’s in black and white. Barry is in that position, the defenders are reacting to him, there’s hesitation, there’s chaos and he benefits from it. That’s interfering. I don’t care if he doesn’t touch it first, he’s influencing the situation. That goal should not stand for Everton. Simple as that. Now the second one… this is the one that really gets me. Michael Keane on Jérémy Doku, how on earth is that not a red card? Honestly, explain it to me. Because when I look at it, I see a player going in late, with force, and he’s not in control. That’s serious foul play all day. The law says if you endanger the safety of an opponent with excessive force, it’s a sending-off. There’s no grey area there. Doku’s planted, Keane comes through him, that’s dangerous. We’ve seen those given all season. And this is where the frustration comes in, VAR is there to correct ‘clear and obvious’ errors. So if they’re not intervening for that, then what’s the point? What are we actually doing? Because now you’ve got a situation where: a goal that, by the law, should be ruled out… stands a red card offence… gets waved away And people will say ‘it evens out over the season’, no it doesn’t! Not at this level, not in a title race. You’ve got Michael Oliver on the pitch, VAR in his ear, and between them they’ve still got both calls wrong. That’s not pressure, that’s poor officiating. I’m telling you now, if that’s the standard, then we’re going to be having this same conversation every single week. And Professional Game Match Officials Limited have got to answer it, because right now, it just looks like inconsistency at the highest level.”
