Totally agree with this take but the problem is Jeru and BIG were on two different levels. Jeru's name has NEVER come up in a convo on who's the dopest MC...Biggie, JERU or Nas. The polarizing thing about Nas is he started as the underground champ but by IWW he was now being looked at someone who was now on both sides of both sides of the pendulum. Plus as dope as Jeru was and I LOVE Jeru he's not on Nas' level of an MC just like 95% of MC's aren't on that level.

Like YOU said "YOU think college campus/party goer hip hop heads...." and again that's not a fact. It's what YOU think. Which is cool...but again...it's not a fact. Even a label rep who was literally traveling to every single state, going to hood record stores and every radio station & club across not only the US but the WORLD couldn't say ALL hip hop heads had Nas over BIG.
And I also think college campus / party goer hip hop heads are and have always been a different bunch than the colloquial boom bap backpack head….
