LSU had to vacate every win that those players participated in, got a one year postseason ban, a two year reduction in scholarships corresponding to the number of players involved (8), LSU self imposed all of these penalties, and Coach O wasn’t even the head coach when all of that happened either… And in today’s game, what he was “bragging”about on whatever podcast isn’t against the rules anymore. On the other hand: Texas Tech is standing behind a kid that broke an NCAA bylaw that is in effect today. That’s honestly the only issue here. The public wants this kid to be held accountable and that means his eligibility is over. Period. 16 men’s basketball players lost their eligibility for this same exact thing just this past season (and several of them were transfers). Texas Tech is basically saying that the rules every other college athlete has to abide by doesn’t apply to their players… then that’s obviously going to piss everybody else off. It doesn’t help that your mega donor who’s supposed to be chairing this “commission to save college sports” thinks a good first step would be to make a player at his school the only exemption to the rules. And don’t even try to play where’s the outrage about so and so bullshit, people were just as pissed off at those teams. Texas Tech isn’t even remotely considered to be the perceived villain you think you are… but my god y’all are going to be if y’all keep this up.
