11 years ago I walked into @NYWCWRESTLING as a 22 year old kid, dumb as shit, looking to start a journey. In those 11 years, I went beyond the bubble and found myself in deathmatch wrestling. You hear it from so many when you're first starting out. And I'm sure they're saying it with your best interest in mind: "If you do deathmatches, the bigger companies will never consider you." "Once you do deathmatches, people will only see you as a deathmatch wrestler." And of course, who can forget the absolute classic: "All that for a hotdog and a handshake?" And yeah, they're probably right. Except for that last one, that dude sucks. But maybe you can go on to do amazing things. Like wrestling in different countries, wrestling for some of the biggest independents, meeting fans from all over the world, creating meaningful friendships and having the time of your life while doing it. And maybe one day the place you trained at gives you an opportunity to come home and show what you've learned. Thank you @NYWCWRESTLING 2026 Massacre of the Mat Winner.
