ALT In a landmark event today, the Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) and the Civil Protection Authority formalized the extension of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for another five years. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from various NGOs and INGOs operating in Timor-Leste. The Secretary of State for the Civil Protection Authority expressed profound satisfaction with the significant contributions made by CVTL towards enhancing community resilience and supporting the Civil Protection Authority's emergency preparedness and response efforts. In recognition of CVTL's vital role in alleviating human suffering through emergency preparedness and response, the Civil Protection Authority has committed to including CVTL in the Government’s Annual Budget. This financial support will further expedite CVTL’s role as an auxiliary to the government, as outlined in the newly extended MoU. ALT Today's marks the kick off of 5-day workshop on data access and & sharing in Emergencies. this impactful event successfully led by IM Coordinator of IFRC APRO and IM Senior IFRC CCD Jakarta along with CVTL's IM specialist. The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from NGOs/INGOs, and government bodies such as the Civil Protection Authority, the Vice Prime Minister's Cabinet for Rural Development and Preservation of Natural Resources, as well as key stakeholders from UNDP, CRS, and the Meteorology Office. Throughout the workshop, we explored the IFRC Go Platform, API, and the Montandon Platform, focusing on crisis and hazard historical data in Timor-Leste. By the end of this workshop, it is anticipated that an IM Working Group will be established in Timor-Leste to enhance emergency preparedness and response efforts, maximizing the potential of Montandon for future crises.
