Daily #MarilynMonroe πŸ’‹ MM and Esther the chimpanzee in a publicity photo for MONKEY BUSINESS (1952). Photographed by John Florea circa Feb-Mar 1952. Marilyn formed a close bond with Esther during the production of the movie, in which Esther also appeared and played a pivotal role. Between takes, she was often seen holding hands, playing with, and talking to the chimp. Not surprising to anyone who knows about Marilyn, as she had a special connection & affinity for animals as well as children πŸ’•πŸ΅

Starting a new series today β€” Dog Days of Summer Saturdays πŸΆβ˜€οΈπŸ“Έ I’ve noticed there are a TON of photos of classic & Old Hollywood movie folks pictured w/dogs and I do love me some cute pups (who doesn’t?), so I thought it might be fun to highlight some of them here on Saturdays this Summer. And if I haven’t run out of pics by summer’s end, I may just have to continue into the Fall with a new name πŸ˜… If anyone would like to join me, please feel free! The more the merrier πŸ€— Beginning the series today with a bit of a bang: a double-feature! 🎬2️⃣ πŸ“· 1: one of the most famous classic movie dogs there is: Asta from THE THIN MAN film series! The wire fox terrier (whose real name was Skippy) is being awarded a silver canine popularity trophy by Humphrey Bogart (who came up w/the idea for the canine actor popularity poll and statuette presentation himself) on March 11, 1938 πŸ† πŸ“· 2: bc y’all know I HAD to include some MM to start us out πŸ˜† #MarilynMonroe w/her maltese/poodle mix, Maf, who was a gift from friend Frank Sinatra to help comfort her after her divorce from Arthur Miller. Maf was short for β€œMafia Honey,” which was a humorous nod to Sinatra’s rumored ties to the mob. They were photographed here at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 1961 by Eric Skipsey 🐩 #DogDaysofSummerSaturdays #OldHollywood #ClassicFilm #dogs

#NewProfilePic Figured I’d show my real face on here since it’s been a long time since I’ve shared any personal pics. I am, in fact, a real person, not a paid bot from the Marilyn Monroe Estate… though I *am* open to offers, @MarilynMonroe. Have your people get with my people πŸ˜‰πŸ“² πŸ“·: just little ol’ me on my wedding day 4 years ago πŸ‘°πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ which was the best day ever πŸ₯°

This film is such a special treat for those of us who love ballet and striking visuals. The Archers created a unique, artistic masterpiece w/The Red Shoes ❀️
Moira Shearer turned down THE RED SHOES (1948) several times, worried a film role would hurt her standing in the ballet world. She eventually agreed, and the performance made her an international star.

Mary Wickes was a wonderful character actress. Great in this film, as well as in another of my favorites, WHITE CHRISTMAS (even tho she’s the one who louses things up for a little while πŸ˜†)
"Dora, I suspect you're a treasure." #botd Effortless scene stealer with admirable dry delivery, Mary Wickes with Bette Davis in Now, Voyager (1942). 🎬
