Hearing the minimum score needed for an internal medicine training interview has shot up from 15 last year to 22 this year. Essentially a 50% increase in the number of points required just to get an interview is criminal. Completely pathological and unrealistic expectations.

Too important to that we’re told we shouldn’t be allowed to strike. Too unimportant to be paid correctly. Great support today at King George hospital from public and residents alike. Drs don’t want to strike but inaction from the government has forced us here. @BMAResidents
Doctors are picketing at Wes Streeting's local hospital today. Lots of public have been showing their support for doctors. Mr Streeting must get back around the negotiating table. There is a deal that can be done.

GI Endoscopy biopsy🧵 Biopsies are essential for diagnosis & management of patients, but the beauty of Endoscopy & the ability to biopsy without standardisation has significantly increased the workload for GI Pathology. There are also Pathology workforce challenges in London 1/N

The decision to strike is a difficult one made with a heavy heart. This is the 10th time junior doctors are doing it. But sometimes it's the only way to make our voices heard. We will continue to do so as long as it takes. @BMA_JuniorDocs #fullpayrestoration #JuniorDoctorsStrike

Excellent interview from @matthewtrainer as @BHRUT_NHS consultants & doctors walked out yesterday. Today @BMA_JuniorDocs walkout. We want to get back to work but that needs the government to come to the table. Investing in Drs now will improve patient care! #FullPayRestoration

The gov timing about the Minimum Service Levels Bill is another low blow which detracts from the main issues and doesn’t address why doctors are striking. The public consultation is open now and would highly advise you take a look at what’s being suggested gov.uk/government/consultati…

Continuing to accuse @TheBMA and it’s members of “harming the public” from the gov will only exacerbate & prolong industrial action. Mr Barclay hasn’t sat down with Drs around the table in >140 days. Let us get back to work & tackle the myriad of other challenges the NHS faces.

As a reminder - Junior doctors don’t want to strike. We are forced into this position by a government unwilling to come to the table. Let us continue to provide the service we can but pay us fairly
