Alex Pretti was lawfully carrying under Minnesota law and the U.S. Constitution. From a 2A conservative framework, that fact alone should have foreclosed any justification for lethal force. I’m a liberal, and I have rarely—if ever—agreed with @SavannahLMaddox on policy. That’s precisely why this moment matters. Representing HD-61 (~75% Republican, ~70% Trump support), she stated a basic truth: the mere act of being armed is not permission for the state to kill someone. This matters even more given the context: Rep. Maddox has just advanced legislation expanding concealed carry to 18–20-year-olds—explicitly affirming that lawful carry does not equal threat. That makes her speaking out consistent, not symbolic. Which raises the harder question: why has Kentucky GOP leadership said nothing? @RobertStivers @MaxWiseKY @SenMikeWilsonKY @RobbyMillsKY @DavidWOsborne @DavidMeadeKY @StevenRudyKY @SuzanneMilesKY @JasonNemesKY If lawful carry is a constitutional right in Kentucky policy, it cannot become a death sentence when exercised in front of federal agents. Rights that vanish at gunpoint aren’t rights—they’re permissions.

I am here today to talk about an important issue facing our City - and in fact - our Democracy: the removal by the National Park Service of a series of interpretive panels from the President’s House exhibit on Independence Mall. We gathered the facts, researched the law, and our course is clear: I directed our City Solicitor to file a lawsuit in Federal Court that would require the Federal government to return the President’s House panels to the City of Philadelphia. A public hearing will be held on Friday on our preliminary injunction request. We will keep you updated on progress with this lawsuit. You cannot erase our history. You will not erase our history! #presidentshouse

I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work. I don’t let bullies win. Grateful to my incredible constituents who rallied behind me. Minnesota strong.

I saw #PedroPascal post this on his Insta. I want to amplify it on all my social media. So many Latino/Hispanic people on this list. Dammit. They want to officially kill my people with impunity. And too many people are okay with it. Too many…

Pinned for clarity: I do not share Rep.@SavannahLMaddox broader politics, and this isn’t praise or endorsement. It’s a recognition of a rare point of agreement that matters because of her district and her record. Alex Pretti was lawfully carrying under Minnesota law and the U.S. Constitution. Saying that lawful carry is not justification for lethal force is a basic 2A principle—and a necessary limit on state power. That principle should apply consistently, regardless of who is in office or which agency pulls the trigger. Silence from leadership is notable. Accountability is not partisan.

Good for Trey Gowdy admitting facts exist on Fox. A rare exception to their hail of lies. They'll definitely bury this clip. DO NOT LET THEM.

“It’s like call of duty! So cool huh?” Trump’s goons treat shooting at and tear gassing protestors like a video game, caught on national TV on a hot mic One even clapped after Alex Pretti was killed abolish ICE

We just hit a turning point. Alex Jeffrey Pretti was legally carrying. Holstered. Never touched his weapon. ICE disarmed him while he was being dogpiled… then mag-dumped him anyway. This is what’s turning people into leftists. Not “wokeness.” State violence.

Republicans need to decide which position they actually hold. You can’t argue that people have a legal right to carry a gun anywhere, at any time, and then claim the government is justified in killing someone after they have been disarmed simply because they were previously legally armed.

Trump’s endless empowerment of federal immigration agents has resulted in yet another senseless killing. This brutal crackdown has to end. I cannot and will not vote to fund DHS while this administration continues these violent federal takeovers of our cities.

Statement from the family of Alex Pretti, Michael and Susan Pretti:  “We are heartbroken but also very angry.    Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.    The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.    Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you”
