I am a praying Mayor, Philadelphia, and I know that prayer works. I know it works because three @PhillyPolice officers were shot in the line of duty tonight, one in the face, one in the hip, one in the leg, and yet by the grace of God, all of them are in stable condition. We'll keep everyone posted. You'll get more details from Philadelphia Police in the days to come. These officers are husbands and fathers, sons and brothers, and they almost didn’t make it home tonight. Our Officers put their lives on the line every day. They go to work, and they don't know if they'll even come home when their shift is over. I want everyone to keep them in prayer tonight, and remember their Sacrifice for our City.

This Summer, @PhilaParkandRec will open more than 60 outdoor public pools across the city, providing critical access to recreation and relief from extreme heat this Summer.   These pools help our young people stay active, build friendships, engage in programming, and create nearly 800 full-time seasonal jobs for lifeguards and maintenance staff.   This is the kind of Philadelphia we are building together, a safer, cleaner, greener city with economic opportunity for all.    Here’s to staying safe, staying cool, and making memories in neighborhoods across our city!

Our One Philly, One Future $7.1 Billion FY27 Budget is now law.   This budget keeps Philadelphia moving forward while making critical investments in:        •    Affordability     •    Economic mobility       •    Public safety      •    Housing      •    Education and     •    Many other critical areas for our residents    None of this work happens alone. I want to thank @CouncilmemberKJ, @watlington_sr, @PHLschools, @PHLschoolboard, and every member of @phlcouncil for coming together to save the critical 340 school-based jobs, protect our kids’ futures, and promising to work together and commit to finding dedicated, recurring, annual local revenues for our District and our children in the future.    The work goes on, and we have many more miles to go, Philadelphia.    I’m not going anywhere, and I will never stop fighting for the people of our great city.

When the moment calls for leadership, you roll up your sleeves and get to work because our children are worth it. I want to thank @CouncilmemberKJ Kenyatta Johnson and every member of @phlcouncil, Superintendent @watlington_sr and the team at @PHLschools, @PHLschoolboard and Board President Reginald Streater, and our advocates, educators, labor partners, and everyone who stayed at the table and worked through the tough conversations to deliver for Philadelphia’s students. Together, we protected 340 school-based positions and made a shared commitment to finding a dedicated, recurring source of local funding for our schools. This is what partnership looks like. This is what One Philly looks like. Philadelphia’s students are making extraordinary progress. The Class of 2026 alone earned nearly $450 million in scholarship offers. We cannot afford to lose that momentum. We are united. We are committed. And we are ready to keep working together to secure the resources our schools need and the opportunities our children deserve. #OnePhilly

Philadelphia is clear about who we are and what we stand for. We value dignity, safety and inclusion – and that includes our LGBTQ community, whose members are essential to the fabric of our city. This weekend, thousands of people came together to celebrate Philadelphia’s vibrant LGBTQ community and everything that it contributes to our city. I know that members of our LGBTQ community are hurting, frustrated, and looking for answers nowfollowing events that occurred after Pride celebrations concluded on Sunday. I want everyone to know that I hear you, I see you, and my Administration is taking your concerns seriously. Over the past two days, at my direction, senior members of my Administration, including Chief Deputy Mayor Vanessa Garrett Harley, Chief DiversityEquity and Inclusion Officer Donna Jackson Stephans, Director of @PhillyLGBTgov Tito Valdes and @PPDCommish, met to review the information available to us and discuss next steps. We are continuing to gather facts and listen carefully to all concerns being raised. In the days ahead, we will meet with community leaders as part of that effort. As we move forward, we must reject the notion that public safety and accountability are mutually exclusive. I am unwavering in my commitment that Philadelphia will and must always be a city where people feel safe gathering, celebrating, and expressing themselves, while ensuring that concerns are heard, questions are answered, and accountability remains at the forefront of our actions. Our LGBTQ community has helped shape this city for generations. We remain committed to listening, learning, and working together to ensure that Philadelphia continues to be a city where everyone feels safe, welcome, valued and heard.

Let’s be clear. The rideshare tax was never about burdening Philadelphia residents. It was about making sure billion-dollar corporations pay their fair share in the city they profit from every single day. Many Philadelphians saw it firsthand during Roots Picnic weekend. Rides that normally cost $20 or $30 surged far beyond that because these companies will always find ways to maximize their profits when demand is high. What we proposed was simple: invest a portion of those profits back into Philadelphia. Into our schools. To preserve jobs. To support the people who serve our children every day. To give our young people the best possible chance to succeed. Instead, misinformation convinced people that my administration wanted this tax on them. Philadelphia deserves better than that. Our children deserve better than that. We cannot continue allowing billion-dollar companies to do business in our city, benefit from our residents, and walk away without contributing their fair share to the future of Philadelphia. I will never stop fighting for the resources our city needs, the opportunities our children deserve, and the fairness Philadelphians expect.

The one-time infusion of dollars could also negatively affect the District’s long-term financial outlook, borrowing costs, and future capacity to invest in school facilities.
