Travelling by train is one of the greenest ways to travel, especially when combined with walking and wheeling, cycling and taking the bus. We want to encourage more people to take greener, healthier journeys by using our Rail Trails to access the beautiful walks we have in our area. 36 walks exploring the towns and countryside, with a variety of lengths to suit all. Pick up one of our leaflets at the Visit Warwickshire Stall at @KenilworthShow this weekend or find all the trails on our website heartcommunityrail.org.uk/ra…! @WarwicksRambler @MILLENNIUM_WAY @LDWA1 #JourneysForAll #communityrail #CommunityRailWeek Video made with by the awesome team @weareteamba

It's that time of year again: May heralds our annual 100 mile challenge. This year it's the Hunnypot Hundred in Kent - the main event will be the BH weekend at the end of the month, and this weekend it's the marshals' walk. They'll be setting off at 10am.Good luck to all!

We can recommend our events - they aren't races and there are no prizes, but runners are welcome to take part. Even we would struggle to make an event break even at £6 entry, but most of our shorter events (20-30 miles) are £10-20. For a 50 miler usually £30-40.
It was great when you paid £6 for a race entry fee and got a £1 off. Not so good when it's 50 notes or more. It's a sport for the relatively affluent now, cafe culture, craft beers, gels, powders, arm sleeves, high end watches and super duper shoes. Glad I did it earlier.

PS The checkpoint fare is usually tea and cake - no gels or powders in sight!

Undoubted star of the event: walker who wanted to retire at 30 miles and take a taxi home. She couldn't get one... so she figured she'd have to keep on walking as she had no other option. She finished!

The Birmingham Canal Canter is known for its cake competition. As usual, this year's event has attracted a strong field, but the chocolate and hazelnut layer cake is going to be very difficult to beat.

"Effects of ultra-endurance exercise on posture" - or, as it's more commonly known within the LDWA, "the lean". Several cases noted on this year's Flower of Suffolk 100.
Fully funded MPhil to analyse effects of ultra-endurance exercise on posture, based in @HNERC_NclUni with me, Iain Spears and Anette Pantal. Thanks to @LDWA1 for generous support. jobs.ac.uk/job/DNY220/mphil-…
