π contact Mayor Andrew Knack & urge the City of Edmonton to accept LEAP's recent proposal to bring in a team of 6 experts to evaluate Lucy to determine if she can be safely transported to sanctuary.
This UNIQUE team consists of veterinarians & experts in transportation of ππ
Please continue to keep the pressure on.
After the horrible winter we just endured in Edmonton, we want to do everything in our power to prevent Lucy from living through another winter here.
#RetireLucy π
1/ As promised here is our update to our recent work with City Council. We want to share our efforts that started after the new Council was elected in the fall of 2025. With some newly elected officials, we were cautiously hopeful that we could get enough members on board.
7/ So where do we go from here? We donβt give up for starters. We have a few cards left to play & we will play them. Strategically we canβt share more than that right now but we have some important people helping us behind the scenes. We will keep you all posted when we are able
3/ 1οΈβ£of the Councilors indicated that he was prepared to make a motion to have Lucy transported to theπ Sanctuary in Tennessee.
He indicated he wanted reassurance Lucyβs life would not be at risk during transport. We offered to put together a team of experts Council could askπ2
2/ We need to attain support from 7 Councillors to create a majority & of course our goal was to have them approve the release of Lucy to sanctuary.
Our local admin team started reaching out to our respective City Councillors.
#LUCY CALL TO ACTION
#LUCY CALL TO ACTION
#LUCY CALL TO ACTION
WE NEED EVERYONE TO STEP UP
WE NEED EVERYONE TO GET ACTIVE
PLEASE LETS STAND TOGETHER AND GET ACTIVE FOR #LUCY
Imagine living this life for 45 years. Listening to sound of the children's voices echoing through that concrete cell day in and day out. The suffering Lucy has endured all this time is utterly inhumane.
@AndrewKnack itβs time to #RetireLucy
This is Veer he was just rescued & π what he has the opportunity to use already.
A nice hydrotherapy pool, just like the one Lucy was promised years ago.
There is no excuse for the EVZ to deprive Lucy of prescribed medical therapy. All $ they receive from the tax payers go where
Real change for Lucy will not come from legislation alone it will come from public pressure awareness & the continued demand that she be given the chance to live the rest of her life in a sanctuary who will meet her needs.
New law protects πof the future.
We must #retire Lucy.
Lucy has spent decades living alone in a climate that was never meant for π.
The new legislation acknowledges what science & compassion have been telling us for years: π do not belong in captivity.
But Lucy still needs ourπ£οΈ
𧳠focused assessment

1/
Canada has taken an important step forward for elephants. New federal legislation will help end the future of elephant captivity by restricting the breeding and import of elephants into Canada.
But many people are asking what this means for Lucy.
2/ Unfortunately, the law does not apply retroactively. Elephants who are already living in zoos β including Lucy at the Edmonton Valley Zoo β are not automatically relocated to sanctuaries.
That means Lucy's future has not yet changed.
Hello Lucy Supporters!
IΒ hope youβre staying warm these days.
Speaking of weather, If anyone has the time & opportunity to visit the zoo & obtain new video footage of Lucy walking, that would be really helpful.
We have not gotten much coverage of her "in action"
So any help ππ
The annual assessments of Lucy were released yesterday. I was notified by Gary Dewar that they were available on the zoo's website.
Here are the links to the examinations which were from 2 zoo industry consultants.
