”What’s really striking,” @paulkrugman writes, “is how few people actually stand to benefit from New Jersey’s attempt to block or delay congestion charges.” nyti.ms/44vMych

"71 percent of the 4,734 Denverites who received an e-bike subsidy last year reported that their new rides helped them reduce the amount they drove, replacing an average of 3.4 gas-powered vehicle trips every single week." 👏Hell👏Yes👏 usa.streetsblog.org/2023/03/…

remember when gawker properties didn't have bylines because nick denton felt some type of way about them
Many years ago, I had a conversation with a journalism friend who had won a prestigious fellowship. He mentioned that his then-employer seemingly wasn't happy for him; the gist was that he was getting the recognition, not his employer, and that didn't sit well. 1/

We are actually just not legitimately people to so many men and it’s so scary

The really rough part about saving the baby instead of the mother is denying the child additional siblings.

There’s a huge difference between self sacrifice and a man choosing to let you die actually. That’s horrible

Years and years ago, my husband (then boyfriend) had a discussion about "save the baby or save the mother" situations, and he said he would save the baby, and I was incredibly hurt. Then I gave birth, and that reaction I had at the time is flat out embarrassing to me.

Lessons are being learned now. Christ Licht is out of a job and Elon Musk is out a shit ton of money and both are missing chunks of reputation and dignity. If the plan is to lift post-fact horseshit and intolerance from the gutter and mainstream it? You're in the gutter yourself.

Messi refusing Saudi Arabia’s offer of $1.6 billion in favor of a riskier deal in the US, in part, because his wife was very reluctant to move to Saudi, is yet another example of how the liberal values so many deride as “soft” are actually quite the competitive advantage

I guess we're lucky that the city is actually doing well-enough in general that we have some resiliency to the bad things that he's completely botching?

I keep typing and untyping tweets about Eric Adams. What a bleak situation. His fate really ought to mimic what happened to Lori Lightfoot

and on an aside, it’s genuinely funny that the same people screaming about “immutable biological evidence” to justify their transphobic beliefs also fundamentally believe you can create an entire woman out of some dude’s rib?
