Interesting article.
"If we believe that it’s important to meet the needs of all students, how do we create a testing environment in which students are less anxious, especially in a math classroom?" @howie_hua. edutopia.org/article/strateg… This is a must read.

FUN!
Roll the dice to find your coordinates and then locate your jolly rancher! Or direct a friend on the learning carpet to the candy... math at a maker night @PEMcGibbon @LKelempro
These flash cards with the visual representation are great for helping 1st and 2nd graders make connections to basic fact strategies.

If you use numberless word problems, check out this fascinating new research article. I def see how using #numberlesswp intentionally attempts to shift Ss' focus toward more relational than instrumental thinking and tamps down on the "compulsion to calculate." #ElemMathChat

If you teach math, this might be the next book for your professional library.
It’s time for recess! I cannot wait to share these books with my teachers! Let’s do math together... build time to wonder and space to wander! ❤️ #MathRecessChat

Names matter!
According to John Hattie's work, not labeling students has an average effect size of 0.61. People ask, "So if we don't label our students, what do we call them?" "Have you tried their names?" Labels include deficits, myths, and assumptions. @terrancelgreen #RRISDWCS
We want you to share a photo of something you received at CFS, Summer PD, or just a great idea you tried in your classroom. We will draw 2 names in elementary and 2 in secondary from the posts at the end of the six weeks for $25 Target gift cards. Include #itriedit #lisdmath

Such powerful reasoning! x.com/klkratina1/status/9787…

First graders notice a lot if you let them share their thinking before solving. 🤔😊 @OmahaPubSchool @numbertalks #OPSProud #firstgrade #mentalmath

Would you like to know what we think are the big ideas in all of K-8? This is from our K-8 book series, gr 4 is out, 3 is next. You can read more about it here: youcubed.org/resource/short-… Teachers who plan 4 big ideas are more successful than those who teach through boring methods!
