The Serbian Orthodox Church won a precedent setting ruling at SCOTUS involving the Religious Abstention Doctrine in the 1970s and recently a Ukrainian Orthodox mother, Svitlana Roman, was one of the plaintiffs in the precedent setting Mahmoud vs Taylor that helped affirm parents fundamental Constitutional rights to the care, custody, and control over their children and their First Amendment religious liberties.
