I'd wager most of my followers aren't avid @ezraklein show listeners, and I'm confident this account isn't on the radar of most of his audience, but I'm grateful to Ezra for being a gracious host and a thoughtful sparring partner as we discuss all things 2026 and beyond.

This was always the best path to imagine a bipartisan package.
🚨 New details about the WH meeting with tech companies including Apple, Meta, Google and xAI on Monday about pairing kids' safety with a new preemption push. Many in industry caught by surprise. My latest w/ @cheyennehaslett and @BrendanBordelon

Kids safety/online privacy has moved in fits and starts for years thanks to lots of hard work and good faith input from pols and stakeholders from all sides. Would be great if the urgency around AI finally helps get it across the goal line.

Something Schilling gets right here--rather than a knock down drag out fight, advocates for child safety protections should see this push for the opportunity it is. Sudden convergence of leverage, salience, and urgency on an issue they've been trying to legislate for years now.

America's Workforce Academy is the largest private-sector commitment to the skilled trades with a guaranteed job in American history. No degree. No debt. The future is for everyone.

We need to build again. All the talk of leading in AI, decoupling from China, national security, reshoring manufacturing is just hot air until we show we can actually build stuff in a timely and cost effective way.
Possibly the most painful chart to look at in energy policy:

Logic of the initiative is so undeniable that it probably lands regardless, but really impressed with how @Meta approached the rollout--UL/Hispanic Chamber as community validators, @ABCNational as industry facilitator, @mikeroweworks as normie ambassador. This is the way.
So proud to join @MariaBartiromo with @mikeroweworks to talk about America’s Workforce Academy! This is @meta’s initiative to give anyone a pathway to become part of the biggest economic transformation of our lifetimes — because we believe that the Future is for Everyone.

There are both practical and political merits to seriously tackling workforce constraints in the context of the data center convo, not to mention serious knock-on benefits for a myriad of other industries as the US seeks to build out the grid and much more.
Meta coming in at this scale to invest in the local skilled trades pipeline is both practically necessary and politically shrewd. Often lost amid the abstract debates, but buildout only happens with the workforce to sustain it. Win-win-win for industry, workers, and communities.

Moraff's combo of vocal fry and valley girl inflection is comically distracting. Feel there should be a national conversation about this?
Graham Platner was recruited to run for Senate by a pair of socialist political operatives, Daniel Moraff and Leanne Fan, who determined that another prospective candidate had “a skeleton in the closet.” The Wall Street Journal published a rare interview with the duo on Sunday who revealed they paid “a whole chunk of money” to vet Platner but managed to turn up neither his Nazi ink nor many of his Reddit posts.

Graham Platner is gonna win because he has connected with Mainers on what they really care about: How this country can work for them, not just the wealthy. He’ll win because he’s not part of the Washington establishment. If I voted in Maine he’d have my support, no question.

As the big thinkers ruminate on the existential stuff, Q for most is "ok but what's in it for me/us?" And in the absence of an answer people get restless. Why it's important for proponents to fill the vacuum with the tangible wins of the present along w/ a vision for the future.
