Well while Iāve got you here, letās talk about the Governmentās own deadline to remove all of this cladding from all residential buildings. It was June 2020. It was very much missed google.co.uk/amp/s/m.huffingā¦
Message from a resident: "No alarm went off for over 30 minutes post the fire. Woke up to the smell of smoke in the flat."
Do send me a DM if you live there/ are in the area.
Latest from @LondonFire.
Called at 8.55, 20 fire engines and around 125 firefighters are there. Parts of the 8th, 9th and 10th floors are alight.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
Thankfully witnesses tell me it looks under control. Pic @IAmAndyPearce
Back in January the East London Advertiser wrote about the fight to remove the flammable cladding from this building - even though funding had been made available years ago. eastlondonadvertiser.co.uk/nā¦

We urge the UK government and local authorities to retain their focus on supporting people out of homelessness.
We urgently need a clear, national strategy to end rough sleeping and homelessness for all. (2/2)

The UK government has published guidance on new immigration rules, which make rough sleeping grounds for enforced removal ā regardless of whether someone is living in the UK legally.
Together with over 60 orgs, we're urging the Govt. to scrap these new rules immediately. (1/2)
Normal - what we had before - was already inaccessible, with barriers from dropped kerbs to street clutter.
The COVID-19 interventions, from outdoor dining to Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, have complicated things further.
Disabled people cannot be forgotten as we reopen society.
We saw this coming, and we published our summary report with the key concerns (and our proposed solutions) which you can read here.
We are incredibly disappointed to see the same issues arise a year later.

Almost 1 year ago we launched our Pave The Way campaign - shining a light on inaccessible streetspace.
We held a forum for disabled people to share their concerns and experiences.
81% of those we polled felt concerned that the 'new normal' would be inaccessible to them.
Fun fact about me: I use a āteenagersā wheelchair. Itās tiny. 23inches wide.
If Iām struggling to get through these āgapsā, they are completely impassable for most wheelchair users and visually impaired people with dogs.
Pavements must be kept clear enough for pedestrians.
